I Love You to Death (1990) is a dark comedy that proves even the goofiest murder plot can get even goofier when it’s driven by jealousy, fueled by incompetence, and absolutely loaded with pasta sauce. Kevin Kline stars as Joey Boca, a charming pizza parlor owner who can’t stop cheating on his sweet, devoted wife Rosalie (Tracey Ullman). When Rosalie finds out about his never-ending list of flings, she decides the only logical option is to kill him—repeatedly—just to make sure it sticks.

The movie gleefully escalates from suspicion to poison to badly orchestrated hit jobs, bringing in a hilariously clueless duo of stoner hitmen (played by William Hurt and Keanu Reeves) and a lovelorn busboy (River Phoenix) who’s somehow roped into the whole mess. Joey, meanwhile, bumbles around unaware that everyone in his life is plotting his untimely demise, making each new attempt more slapstick than sinister. Despite the murderous premise, there’s a goofy sweetness to this misadventure of misguided revenge.
