Addressing the Status of JL8

Hey, everyone.

I’ve been receiving a lot of messages/comments asking when—or even IF—I’ll continue producing JL8, so I wanted to take a moment to re-address the issue. Facebook’s algorithms are not great, so I’m sure plenty of people missed my initial posts regarding what’s going on.

Two months ago yesterday, my best friend of 16 years died suddenly and unexpectedly. Needless to say that it completely and utterly kneecapped me. Thankfully, I’ve had a lot of support from friends and family, and I’m doing okay, but those initial few weeks really set me back, and I’m still trying to claw my way back to even.

When Jake died, I was in the middle of my Black Friday commissions, and as such had about a dozen or so that had yet to be drawn when he passed away. Now that I’m doing better, I’m giving those priority, as those have been paid for and were promised for delivery by Christmas, so they’re already months late. I don’t feel comfortable working on JL8 while I have commission clients waiting on things they paid for and have been waiting months to receive. The good news is that I’m just about done with said commissions—I should have them wrapped up sometime next week—and once that’s all finished, it’s back to JL8.

I understand none of this is ideal, and I apologize for all the confusion. I’ve been trying to keep things at least somewhat lively by posting commissions, but I understand that that’s a far cry from actual comic content. I’m not entirely sure what else to say, but I hope that this gives some amount of clarity to the situation as it currently stands. I want to be clear that no one’s been pushy or hostile in their inquiries to the status of JL8, but enough people have asked that I thought it best to simply make a public post to address the issue in the hopes that it sheds light on it for others who weren’t aware of the situation.

I hope everyone had a happy Valentine’s Day and has a pleasant weekend. As for me, it’s back to the drawing board. Talk to you soon.
