"Our Fighting Forces #152," as reprinted in "Jack Kirby's The Losers" (DC Comics)
Written and drawn by Jack Kirby
Inked and lettered by D. Bruce Berry
So this one is a bit of a cheat, as I didn't decide to start snapping photos of awesome panels until the previous post, but once I did, I went back to some previous issues and grabbed some pics of panels that had stood out to me before. This is one of those panels.
There's not a ton to say about this that I didn't also say about the first PotD, but one of the most notable things is how it's kind of two panels in one: we see Sarge kicking the Nazi off of him, and as soon as the Nazi's body is clear, another one of The Losers puts him down for good. It's an incredibly seamless portrayal of the passage of time.
Beyond that, there's all the staple Kirby greatness: the incredibly dynamic body shapes (the drawing of Sarge kicking is phenomenal, especially at that angle), the masterful use of blacks to convey weight and space, and even a little Kirby Krackle in the top left for good measure.
Really this just boils down to being a totally badass drawing, and I love looking at it.
