You know that one person who can always see right through you ...

I'm pretty sure Tobur is well aware of just how closely he's digging to the truth.

I've noticed it's begun to take me longer to finish pages again. I'm not sure whether I've up'ed the detail level to a degree where I may have to start cutting back again, if I'm failing somewhere in the process, or if I'm just miscalculating the time, but I feel like these pages came together a lot faster and easier than the ones I'm currently working on :/

I'm fairly happy with the results on this page, though I still have things to nag about. I have noticed I'm getting a little closer to the actual look of the species, which is largely thanks to me using more references again - seeing something makes drawing it easier. Go figure 9w9 still not perfect, but I'll get there eventually.

Again, Azax vs. Bliss was the music selection for this page (this page and 152 were produced in the same week).

I know I mentioned it above already, but I figured I might ellaborate a little more on the creative process, how I approach it and what I want to achieve for the future. I've begun keeping references open next to the pages I'm working on to make sure I get the look right(er), without having to switch between windows all the time, and it's showing positive effects.

What I'm looking for is to get as close to the natural look of the characters as I can, while maintaining readable expressions and body language. I realise I've taken plenty of artistic license on both in the past, and I will likely have to continue to do so moving forward. The example that springs to mind being Tobur's mom adopting a defensive pose and expression more akin to a wolf than a fox - to anyone who's never seen a defensive fox, this example should easily highlight why (from an artistic point of view) the natural aggressive pose of a fox isn't very useful ( https://l7.alamy.com/zooms/3c73549f3b6d42558a6b4d261c5bb21a/red-fox-rotfuchs-vulpes-vulpes-confrontation-of-two-adults-standing-kd8y6g.jpg )

I've also skimped a little bit on facial structure, which has resulted in a more toony look in a lot of respects, which I'm still trying to drop. My inspiration in these regards is mostly influenced by Karl Kerschl, who manages to maintain a very natural look to all the animal characters, while still implementing expressions and compositional elements - I'm referring to his personal project of "The Abominable Charles Christopher" found here ( https://abominable.cc/ ).

granted, I don't have 20 years of experience drawing comics to fall back on, but hey, it's all a learning experience for me. Some day I will have 20years of experience drawing this comic to fall back on - and I'll still complain about something or other not working the way I want it to XD
