Bouncing Around

Just a little update to let you all know I'm still around and doing Forest Tails stuff aswell.

As we all know by now, Eurofurence is cancelled for good this year, which is both good and bad for me.

On one hand, I have more time available to produce artwork for show and sales, as well as having the budget originally allocated to Eurofurence attendance and travel available for other things that are beneficial to me and mine.

On the other hand, I don't get to see any of my out-of-country friends this year, which is a real bummer, cuz I only get to see these people once a year, and as much of a social recluse as I might be, chatting with folks only does so much and is fairly limiting when you want to have lengthy talks about X subject. That and EF is the one vacation we get and it's kinda nice to be away for a while, even if it is always the same place.

As far as Forest Tails is concerned, it's still continuing, but as I'm hoping to become an independent artist, I'm having to put producing pages on the backburner until I've done the art to pay the bills for a given month. While I realize this might be a bit of an awkward post to make on a patreon of all places, I feel it's only fair to be honest and let you guys know how I structure my time.

On the topic of honesty, I'll admit that it was also nice to catch a bit of a break from working on FT too. As fun as it is to tell the story, it has felt like a chore here and there, which again is a good and bad thing. The good side is, it allows me to keep up my discipline by working on it, even if I don't quite feel like it at a given time and that's good practice for someone aspiring to do art for a living. The bad side is that I sometimes worry whether Forest Tails is again developing into one of those projects that'll never get finished on accounts of my personal laziness and accumulated guilt about not finishi~ etc. etc. .

I had asked Teagan for some pointers on that some weeks ago and she gave me some sound advice, in that if I finish that panel I'm grinding on, I will never have to finish that panel again. Breaking big things down into little pieces is the only way forward. The big picture doesn't matter while you're working away X3

As it is, 164 is almost done and 165 will likely get done before the end of the week aswell. The only question that remains for me at the moment is whether you guys want to have the earlier update or if I should wait for the new month to start?

As far as everything else is concerned; life's going alright. We're staying safe and healthy for the most part. Quarantine has sort of normalized itself as is, though I feel the government is making a mistake loosening precautions this early (for reference, Austria has been dialing back it's quarantine measures again for the last month or so. While I personally don't worry too much about getting sick, as I spend most of my time at home anyway, I feel it's an unwaranted risk to the general population that might result in a second wave that turns out worse than the first one - that and I kinda like the positive effect our general absence has on the environment, but I figure that goes without saying.

Anyway.

Stay Home! Stay Safe! Stay Healthy! Stay Awesome!
