You hadn't had one because you've made and remade the same picture for the past 20 years! You know what you are? You're a popcorn salesman!"

American in Paris is one of my favorite films from a sentimental perspective, even though I really hate many things about it. In A Lonely Place, while not having the same sentimental impact on me from just a personal/nostalgic perspective....it's just such a masterpiece, and one that just grows and grows with each rewatch. I could watch it at any point. Really...could do that for both of them. Despite the tones being so so opposite.
