GODZILLA MINUS ONE
Added 2023-12-22 02:39:05 +0000 UTCI took your advice and saw it last night. You guys were right. It's a fantastic movie, and one of my favorites of the year. I was surprised by how much Gorecki and Penderecki vibes there were at times in the score, especially after Godzilla first attacks the city. Definitely aspects of it felt like "threnody for the victims of hiroshima." Tell me your thoughts on the film, if you've seen it. I'll try and review it in early January.

Definitely felt like the old days when you went to the movies and felt riveted...

2024-01-16 08:40:27 +0000 UTCI'm a huge fan of Japanese Godzilla films and have seen them all multiple times. The Japanese language version of the original still being my favorite of all, without question. But I am extremely excited to see the new one! It will have to wait a couple weeks, but I am there!

2023-12-22 03:38:26 +0000 UTCI know next to nothing sadly about the old Godzilla films. But I fully felt its respect to the original, even so.

2023-12-22 03:16:13 +0000 UTCI like most of the 21st century Godzilla movies from the US and Japan, but this might be my favorite Japanese Godzilla film of all time. I love that they went back to the atomic analogy of the original film, AND they took time to criticize the values of the Japanese Empire through the survivor’s guilt of a kamikaze pilot. I also liked that I’m actually rooting against Godzilla in this one. When he attacks, it looks badass as ever, but it feels tragic. I got the same vibe alluding to “Threnody”
