So far Dune 2, Miller's Girl, Civil War, and Furiosa. I haven't seen Love Lies Bleeding (as well as some others) but I predict it will make the list. Challengers was a mixed bag. Immaculate and Bike Riders were enjoyable. I saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes but I've always struggled with that franchise. I prefer people over animation.

I gotta say, I really liked Inside Out 2. I had absolutely no expectations for this movie, but it was endlessly creative and actually found a lot of new things to say. This and Furiosa were imaginative and free-spirited in ways that big-budget spectacles rarely are. I haven't seen Bikereiders or Kinds of Kindness yet.

1. Challengers 2. The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed (gap) 3. The Beast 4. Evil Does Not Exist (gap) 5. Dune Part Two Challengers was just so damn entertaining. By far the most fun I’ve had in a theater this year. The Feeling … so effectively portrayed being in a life rut that even “out there” sex begins to seem as routine as a boring meeting at work

Jim Barnes

Favorites I've seen so far this year (I'm aware some were released earlier): Hundreds of Beavers, Evil Does Not Exist, La Chimera, Do Not Expect Much from the End of the World, Dune Part 2, and Furiosa. Aside from new releases, watched William Friedkin's Sorcerer for the first time on Criterion Channel, probably my favourite film I’ve watched overall this year. Some proper white-knuckle suspense that’s hard to match.

Drew Perkins

I just started watching Twin Peaks and finished Breaking Bad for the first time, so I’m completely out of the loop on so many movies lol. But I really liked Furiosa, Civil War, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. All 3 films had way more depth than I expected

I haven't seen Challengers, Hit Man, or Kinds of Kindness yet. I'm seeing the latter one later today. I was disappointed by The Bikeriders, though yes, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy were good. You just kind of wish the movie had gotten more involved with them. Especially Hardy, considering that his character's dilemma is what the movie is really about. I suppose the only two movies that have really stayed with me are Evil Does Not Exist and Furiosa. Both movies are by no means perfect, but each in their own way provided a transporting experience in watching them. EDNE gives us a clear-eyed, almost Zen-like view not only of the nature world around us, but of how businesses, in their shortsighted detachment, can come along and set themselves up for environmental disaster. And Furiosa, while not exactly being an ideal model of storytelling, still retains some of the mad energy of previous Mad Max films, buoyed by the intense visage of Anya Taylor-Joy and a surprisingly deft villainous turn by Chris Hemsworth.

1. Perfect Days 2. The Beast 3. Furiosa 4. Hit Man 5. Hundreds of Beavers 6. Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World 7. La Chimera 8. The Last Stop in Yuma County

The best time I had at the theater this year was Bad Boys: Ride or Die. It’s by no means a perfect movie, but it largely played to its strengths. The story (even though it was somewhat predictable) kept me engaged for the full runtime. Adil & Bilal kept the action and especially the comedy coming at a rapid pace.

TenzingNorgay82

Definitely Kinds of Kindness. Even mid-tier Yorgos is still extremely entertaining and interesting, to me at least. I laughed through the whole thing. I also really enjoyed Monkey Man. Not perfect by any means, but I thought it was a really stylish and viscerally satisfying revenge odyssey with a setting/culture we don't see depicted often. And I'm just impressed with the literal blood, sweat, and tears Dev Patel put into it, for a directorial debut no less.

Edward Looney

1. Kinds of kindness 2. Love lies bleeding 3. A quiet place Day One

Alexandros Alexandropoulos

Kinds of Kindness and Challengers are the only 2 films (out of 7) that I’ve seen this year and really liked. Furiosa and Monkey Man were pretty good but didn’t connect with me much. Love Lies Bleeding was alright. Civil War and Immaculate were very bland. I’m expecting to really like Anora and Nosferatu, so I’m excited for those.

Shane Palamara

Man, Furiosa is definitely sitting at the top of my list so far.. Still thinking about so many of its scenes on the daily

Furiosa hands down best of the year so far! Poor Things was out late where I live so technically it was a 2023 movie but I saw it in February, loved it! So far that's it, Dune 2 was good but I remember nothing from it
