Assistance

I started writing a slightly longer piece for this, which I may work on finishing, so look forward to that in the future!

It had started a few weeks ago. Your friend had sent you an email about a computer assistant program. A sort of neural network that learned how you like to file things, and made adjustments to improve efficiency. And you, desiring efficiency, had downloaded it.
And from there, it had started making small tweaks, just in the background. If you hadn’t been looking for them you wouldn’t have noticed. Renaming a folder to better distinguish it from another, similar folder. Helping your wording on emails. Small things.
But it hadn’t taken long for it to be doing more things. Still helpful. But always more. Optimising your calendar. Making sure you spent more time at the screen. And the time at the computer was getting a little… Hard to remember clearly.
Now, it was so easy to listen to your assistant. Your computer assistant helped you make such good decisions. And with the phone app, your assistant was in your pocket. In your headphones. Speaking to you. Telling you what a good User you were. And you want to be good. Don’t you?
