It's always important for me to get useful feedback on what I'm doing. Both in matters of personal taste and general mistakes. So keep them coming. I always aim to balance each month with one lighter and one darker story. This month's darker shades went into the Mania story which walked on a blurred grey line over the non-consensual edge (which I believe is quite different than a rapey story). But I've just started working on something a bit more edgy for the near future. So stay tuned for new darker stuff for the upcoming months.

Thanks for responding back Tracy. I appreciate your thoughts on why you went with the recoupling vice anything else. I still argue it would have been more enticing with a cuckolding scene and "forced" might be a situation where MJ would have to distract Rick somehow and still pretending to enjoy it. I'm not one for rape scenes so a bit of femme fatale action for ulterior motives is def my preference! Thanks again - good quality comic overall!

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss. I was wondering what might have happened since you're usually eager to write about the new comics and it makes me sad to see it was because of such a terrible reason. Well, goofy was the main theme for this one's mood. I'm glad it worked. I know many people hate JRJR, but I'm a big fan of his style. Llamaboy's isn't even similar to it, but I do agree that both fall in the same category of adding cartoonesque details to a generally realistic anatomy. And you're so right: Eyebrows can do wonders for facial expression. I also like to think my little addition of iridic details also helped to input life in those faces. Llamaboy seemed to agree as well, since he has been playing with more detailed eyes ever since we talked about it. That original story from AMS #44 was about Peter and MJ reconnecting and the pivoting point to their marriage being restored so I took that as my guide and catalyzed things a little (well, maybe not so little, actually). All in all, it was a simple story, made for the clean style of a new artist and I feel like I accomplished exactly what I was looking for in this one. I hope many others agree with me and you, GD. =)

You have a good point there. My goal with this one story was really to have a simplistic, recoupling story and the cuckolding didn't felt right for it. The promos did seem to point that MJ would be cheating on Peter in this one and I agree that I should have done it a bit differently. But I wouldn't say they looked like MJ was being forced into do it with Rick. All those images showed MJ quite eager and happy to be fucking the guy inside the Lobster suit.

It was a goofy premise. There wasn't a whole lot there, except for the throwaway character of Rick Turk. Nonetheless, I liked it. What made the difference? Why did I like this when I didn't like, say, Bunnies and Pussies? I had to think about this. First of all, new artist with a style I really like. Very different from the artist that did most of JMS's run, John Romita Jr.... but it worked because the artist had a framing all their own that explains part of the reason I like JR: stylized realism. In the original comic this is based on, MJ has one of those trademark grins that JR is known for. Llamaboy doesn't try to ape that, but he does try to do his own version of that frozen grinning face that I appreciated. Appropriate for the moment. Llamaboy also does - wait for it - great eyebrows. Is it weird to say that expressive eyebrows can make a break a great comedic or dramatic moment? But then, we know how I love faces. And from there, it was all patent TS humor, mirroring in certain ways the humor that was all through JMSs run, including that story. Not trying to copy JMS, TS just doing their own thing, and most everything lands. And as for the rest of it, I didn't mind the fakeout at all, even if the premise was comedy ludicrousness based on the very ridiculous idea JMS made to begin with. And at the end of the day, it was just a loving, hot encounter between husband and wife. Nothing complicated, just the two of them making up in a slightly different way than the original story. Though not necessarily with less sex: there was a fuckton of innuendo in that run as I recall. Sometimes you don't need complex. Whether you like something or not is in the eye of beholder, but mine eyes behold the glory of TS in Lobsterman, and it is good. (sorry for the late review, I was at a funeral for several days. :/)

Man, I really wish MJ was forced into doing it with Rick Turk aka Lobster-Man instead of Parker. Even tho it's a really well drawn comic, I felt a bit cheated as all the previews kinda insinuated that!
