WHO IS HEATHER DAYBELL

Hi Patreon Supporters,

John and I tried something new, and put together a short video explaining who Chad's sister-in-law is. Heather has caught our attention, because it seems as if she warned people for years about Chad, and no one listened. We are listening to her now, and hope to hear from her one day. While she has put out statements to the media, she has never done a media interview.

We shared this video publicly, but wanted to share it ad-free for our Patreon supporters.

Let us know if you'd like to see more videos like this. While our podcasts take a lot of production time and research, we are considering sharing shorter videos between publishing our longer-form episodes.

WHO IS HEATHER DAYBELL

Hi Lauren! Love listening to you and Dr. John. IMHO, for whatever it's worth: the "dark sister in law" comment from CD seems to be in reference to TAMMY's sister. When I first saw this, I personally remembered it was TAMMY's sister that first voiced her suspicion of Tammy's untimely death. However, it seems Heather also fits the bill here as well.

Hi Elizabeth, this is a great question. My personal belief is that one reason LDS members are so interested in this case is because they want to understand how two members of their church could do such a horrendous thing.  They want to understand in a way that also convinces them that Chad and Lori are outliers.  ... I do think that researching this case can have an effect on members belief systems. (I'm not talking about everyone, just some LDS members).  ... Going back to Heather Daybell, once thing she mentions in the letter to the women in her neighboring congregations is that if she focuses too much on the crimes of her brother-in-law, it affects her testimony. I think it is a good way to explain how Chad and Lori might be having an impact on some LDS members belief system

Hey Lauren thanks for talking us through the situation with Heather and the letter. As an aside and I don’t know anyone else to ask, is this ‘situation’ (for want of any appropriate word) having any sort of impact on the faith of regular LDS members akin to that besetting the Catholic Church. Are people able to separate faith from criminality or are wider issues rippling into society. Maybe some other Patreon’s might be able to provide some further insight
