2023-07-06 12:31:07 +0000 UTCRe westboro baptist church- they picketed the funerals because they hated the government cos - letting people be gay So they used military funeral as an excuse to hold up the ‘god hates f?gs” because they thought they had to save everyone who gunna go to hell. Megan Roper Phelps the granddaughter of Fred and daughter of the current leader-she has since left because people engaged with her on Twitter and had conversations not just condemnation- she is now quite passionate about not being fixed in her thinking and also engaging in conversations with people who are fixed in thinking or those considered politically incorrect and cancelled. She says if it wasn’t for the people who engaged with her civilly actually saved her from her old thinking and if they hadn’t done that, she may still be holding those signs and spouting the same rhetoric. Anyways - that’s just a side note I doubt westboro bullied him- I suspect the mum used their name as it had a high profile and she was probably trying to make out her other son had a military funeral.

Ever since I read it I've had Soul Asylum's Runaway Train stuck on my brain, with the memory that the music video help locate 21 of the 36 children pictured. Again an uplifting story, until you learn that many of these kids did not want to be found.
