So he would dance around the edges of adultery or making a cult- and fantasise about world domination, priestly goddess multiple wives and killing off anyone who saw through his rubbish. I think what changed is that Lori came along and she’s all about action. She’s always on the move - getting things done with the help of anyone she could manipulate to assist her. So Chads all “Tammy is going to die in a car accident one day “ and “Charles is a demon “ And Lori is “right - let’s get this show on the road” I’m really not sure Chad would have ever murdered anyone without Lori and Alex being there. However I fully believe most of the ideas were his- he just didn’t know he had fallen for an highly motivated apocalyptic murder wedding planner.

She had turned to put her phone down before standing (as they’ve been told to not stand with their phones ) but from the judges view it appeared that she actually turned her back to the court instead of standing - she clearly acknowledged how it would have appeared to the judge and she left when asked. But was also welcome to return and she’s using a different bag so she can put her phone down without that happening again. She’s very sorry.

I'm afraid I will never be able to join these lives as I am 8 hours ahead of Idaho at least, and I am an early bird. Hovewer, I am happy to support you here and on youtube. Back to the case. I was thinking of Lori. I believe that her speech was just an act. Being narcissistic, she couldn't stand people judging her and thinking she is a monster, so she rather put up the appearance of a devout mormon woman (keep sweet) with obvious mental health issues and perhaps delving into fringe beliefs. However, I believe it is possible that after Chad's trial she 'gets back to her senses' and pretends to be shocked and appalled at what happened. Nate made me reflect as he's already hinted twice at a possible interview with her. Btw are we ever going to see a panel with you and Nate? Much love from Croatia.

I think Chad is not exactly a con man. I think he built this fantasy world to be special, something he has always wanted to be. And it got out of control. At some point there was no going back. To keep being so damn special he had to keep taking it further and further. And I do think he thought that no one was going to question the deaths. No one in Rexburg knew the kids and he had laid the groundwork for Tammy’s death. He probably felt pretty invincible by the time he got this far and he might even have liked deciding who lives and dies. What I absolutely do not believe is that he believes the incredible bullshit about the light and dark scale and zombies. If he truly believed it, he would be defending it proudly. I mean, he’s right up there with the holy trinity.

I loved seeing the more relaxed side of Lauren and Dr. John and not just the more professional side. I like getting to know you both as people and seeing more of your personalities. Your little boy is so cute and handsome. My question would be if Dr John could get to assess either Lori or Chad, which one would he pick and why? I'm sorry to here about your bother. My partner has a neurological condition called FND that I think Dr.John might know a bit about but it has changed their life alot to the point they are now in a wheelchair and unable to feel below their waist etc. so I can understand how life changing and altering TBI/ Neurological conditions can be. It’s one thing to talk about things and live in a land of fantasy, it’s another for someone to believe your bs and ACT on it. Where was he supposed to go after that? “Just kidding Lori, I know you killed your husband and your kids but I made all this crap up.” That doesn’t fly. I think in the end, he was backed into a corner - that he created himself - and felt like he had no other choice but to kill Tammy. I don’t think his ego (or pride) would allow him to fess up to all of his minions that he was a fraud and a charlatan.

I think this trial deserved a much more passionate and powerful opening. I also felt that so much was left out of Ray Hermosillo's testimony.

Jon and Lauren, I know this is already over, but on the issue of Chad’s children testifying, don’t you think it’s possible that Chad has convinced them that Tammy’s cause of death was simply “God” and not asphyxiation? Lori’s defense lawyers really worked to establish that asphyxiation is simply what coroners land on when they cannot find any other specific cause of death, but there is actually no real test to prove asphyxiation. So I think the children probably believe that their father couldn’t have smothered her, but rather that God just knew it was her time to go and took her. to me, this fits with their religious beliefs and saves them from facing that their father is a murderer and spares them from really perjuring themselves. They can testify (per Priors urging) that Tammy may have shown some signs of some illness, (don’t we all over the course of a month or two), believing That the the public and the jury don’t have the faith to understand that God can simply take people so that others can get on with their missions. I think that is what they think happened. Maybe this is something you could speak to in an upcoming podcast.
