2023-12-17 01:52:01 +0000 UTCI will also say that in Episode 4 the manga and books make the Ladies in Waiting much worse because it told or heavily implied that they ask for the super expensive heavy food specifically so they could eat it instead of the sick Concubine. They were actively helping in making her worse by starving her out and taking her expensive food for themselves.

2023-12-16 23:45:14 +0000 UTCSo during episode 3 one thing that gets kind of glanced over a lot, is that Pretty Boy works for the Emperor, so him finding out about the trick by Concubine Fuyou to go home untouched would in ancient China fall under the crime of deceiving the emperor which is perishable by death. This is kind of showing his character in finding out the plot and then letting them go and basically becoming complicit in a capital offense

2023-12-07 02:14:10 +0000 UTCJust want to mention something really quickly as I'm editing Ep. 3 right now y'all - my brain got too far ahead of itself and I forgot to explain something really crucial! So the princess who left the palace with the military officer in Ep. 3 - she was being given away as the Emperor was no longer impressed with her. What I was initially trying to explain but moved on from literally IMMEDIATELY LMAO was that Bukan 武官(military officer) sounds like Buka 部下(underling, subordinate), which interested me a lot here considering the consor's status. Obviously I had no idea at the time that she was doing all of this intentionally so the TEDTalk is pretty null and void, but I was watching it back and literally thought "where was I going with this?" and thought I'd clarify it just in case! Thanks for watching always! <3
