2025-01-18 23:18:24 +0000 UTCEp 3 of Alice in Borderlands is honestly one of my favourite episodes in any drama, no matter how many times I've rewatched, it always gets me emotional with how its built up. It's everything combined that makes it so good, it's an early episode, so you don't think Main Characters are going to get blown up(quite literally in this case) just yet since we are still building the world. You then spend the entire episode before the game building each character's ambition, and the fact that even in that wild first game, Arisu found a way through game knowledge so you naturally assume he will find a way everytime, and even though the game lays it out for you in such a cruel way, even till the end you still think they'll find a way out, he is Arisu, he will survive right? And while correct, he loses everyone else in the process even if he himself would've rather died then see what he did. Pure Cinema In the upcoming episodes my favourite characters bar Arisu show up so you are in for a ride, glad you are enjoying this! It is very hard to not just go ahead and watch it all right away lol.

I mean sure there are clues in episode one... but not this early???? π© But it makes sense too... I mean if they want to show how cruel the game of hearts is, this is the best way to do it. It did not just toyed Arisu's heart but it also crushed his entire being. (after watching this the first time, I was like---no wonder Chota and Kurube didn't appear in any of the promotional posters π©)

And I get your sentiment about it being kind of straightforward for a hearts game, but think about it like this: What better way to toy with the heart of a player than to put the lives of their loved ones in their hands and then rip them away?? (Whether itβs reality or not) π€ And after people who were so close to each other turned on each other to survive? The deception of this hearts game lies in its simplicity, I think.
