Cultural Marxism: Night of the Living Dead (1968) & Day of the Dead (1985) w/ Leslie Lee III

Jamie is joined by Leslie Lee III (@leslieleeiii) of the podcast Struggle Session to discuss two cult classic zombie movies from the father of the genre, George A. Romero: "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) and "Day of the Dead" (1985). In these two spine-chilling films, the left-leaning director interrogates racism, the military industrial complex, and American society writ large, making for politically interesting viewing.

Good point re: the entrances! Watching them in the zombie cave was so nerve wracking.

Day of the Dead is one of my favs. Always think of it like if you were in a world like this the odds are you'd be a zombie, why not root for the home side? There's this whole two entrances thing in this move too, one super modern button operated hydraulic lift and then there's this ramshackle cattle sluice type thing, I don't know it's cool that they escape through the shitty caves and are betrayed by the hi-tec or something.
