Celebrating A Year Of Party Girls: An AMA-versary Special!

Happy pod-a-versary to us! Jamie Peck and Sam Beard celebrate one year of Party Girls by answering a bunch of listener questions. How many years does the American empire have left? How hopeful are we that we’ll see serious social change within our lifetimes? How many times a day do we think about Lenin? And why does Sam dress like a zoomer now? All this, plus we reveal which super exciting guest we have coming on in February and what book(s) you should read to prepare.

Fundraiser for the person Jamie could not remember the name of: https://givebutter.com/support-sandiego-protester

I'm surprised that neither of you knew about the general strike planned for 2028! It's being spearheaded by the UAW president Shawn Fain, and one of the major Teachers' unions has already signed on. It's very likely that it will happen, the only question is how big. This is the one thing I'm optimistic about right now, and it's something that we should all be preparing for.

How about 'Heka' as a name? The Ancient Egyptian god of magic and medicine. Also I still give the US Empire about 150 years or so to go, I think its reign doesn't really start until post WW2, before that it's kind of more peripheral and it wasn't really set in stone how things were going to play out. China still has hurdles, they need to up their domestic consumption whilst avoiding revolts, they need to become a naval super power (China has little tradition of naval supremacy.), but they are much more flexible than the US (On climate change on mixing their economy to suit their needs etc.) and right now they have the impetus to go forward. None of that is really too important, my one hope is that these battles for world domination become a lot more like how mountain goats or birds and stuff settle their primal urges to fight. It's like you primarily want to settle things by a big show of plumage or horns rather than actually killing the other side.
