Trailer for upcoming cdrama "Guardians of the Dafeng"

Y'know, I do love Dylan Wang, but I think this style of comedy is just not my thing. But maybe it's yours? Or maybe you love Dylan more than I do? ๐Ÿ˜…

Show's synopsis on MDL reads:

"Xu Qi An, a graduate of the police academy, enters a strange world where there are Confucians, Taoists, Buddhists, demons, and warlocks.

He has just awakened to find himself in prison and is about to be exiled to a frontier town in three days' time, so he is valued by an organization of guardians in order to change his fate and thus becomes a Guardian."

Show is adapted from the web novel "Da Feng Da Geng Ren" (ๅคงๅฅ‰ๆ‰“ๆ›ดไบบ) by Mai Bao Xiao Lang Jun (ๅ–ๆŠฅๅฐ้ƒŽๅ›).

Tian Xi Wei, Liu Yi Jun and Yan Zi Dong co-star.

Show will be 40 eps, and will air sometime in 2024, on Tencent Video.

Ok, fair point about the split personality way they tend to go about trailers sometimes! ๐Ÿ˜

I wouldn't bet against it yet, the next trailer will have zero humour and feel like an entirely different drama - as seems to be the pattern with trailers! But, anyway, I do love Wang Hedi enough to watch regardless ๐Ÿ˜„ I mean, unless someone shaves off his eyebrows or they malfunction in some way, I'm addicted ๐Ÿ˜

Right!! It's so weird, right?? This feels so slapsticky, for the budget. If I were in a position to invest in dramas, I wouldn't pour big money into something slapsticky, but.. maybe that's just me ๐Ÿ˜… Also maybe the real drama experience won't have all the slapsticky bits together, and it'll be more balanced..?

Wow this trailer is really strange indeed. As Natalia points out, it is very very big budget, looking at the scale of the sets and special effects. And yet there are very very jarring tonal shifts of silly humour, irony andโ€ฆ anachronisms?? โ€œYou can call me Xu Sir (sir in English!!)โ€
