Weekly update + announcements
Added 2023-12-31 00:55:01 +0000 UTCHi everyone,
It's been a pretty rough week for many of us, so let me start with a group hug ❤️
Thanks for rallying round one another, and being empathetic, kind and respectful, even as we've talked about the very tragic, delicate topic of Lee Sun Gyun's untimely passing. 💔
If you'd like a safe place to talk with others about it, you can go to my post here.
I hope that you're all taking extra care of yourselves, even as we are officially on our last weekend of 2023, and on the cusp of entering 2024. 🥲
1. How my break went
As you can imagine, my week didn't quite go the way I'd imagined, as I was personally pretty thrown off and affected by the news of Lee Sun Gyun's passing.
However, I did get some rest, since I took a step back from the blog. And, with that, I did get out a little bit as well, in the way of lunch with my parents, and lunch with friends.
Thank you all, for urging me to take the week off. 🥰
2. EOY posts
This weekend, we have two more EOY posts, this time, from Uyen and MC - thank you both, for taking time to write!
You can check out their posts here and here.
Next weekend, we should be seeing posts from Diasporic Chick and Elaine - YAY! 🥳
If you would like to write an EOY post, but missed the announcement post, please go here to check out the details!
I've updated the announcement post with a suggestion on how to get screenshots / pictures for your post, from MDL. You can check it out! ❤️
3. Replacement shows
This week, I'll be working on my review of Daily Dose of Sunshine, and the week after, I expect to finish writing my review of Twinkling Watermelon.
Which means that I have room for 2 new shows here on Patreon.
I auditioned a number of shows for these slots, and decided on:
1. Perfect Marriage Revenge, as the replacement show for Daily Dose of Sunshine, and
2. I Know I Love You (China), as the replacement show for Twinkling Watermelon
Out of all the shows I tried out, these are the two that really grabbed me, and I hope you'll join me for these watches!
In case you were wondering:
I was hoping to include Like Flowers in Sand in one of these slots, but upon checking out the first 2 eps, found it rather too similar to Welcome to Samdalri, in its small town, childhood friends setting, so I think I'll KIV Like Flowers in Sand for another time, for when I've finished Samdalri.
Where to watch
Perfect Marriage Revenge is available on VIU, Viki and Netflix (selected regions).
I Know I Love You is best watched at this YouTube link, coz these subs are better than the subs in the other Drama Box Exclusive playlist, where the subs are clearly machine translated.
Why watch:
To tempt you a little bit to join me on these shows, let me just say this:
Perfect Marriage Revenge is as cracky-fun as everyone says, and I'm already drawn to the marriage contract at the center of it. 😁
And I Know I Love You is clearly a remake of kdrama One Spring Night, which I loved. Plus, it stars Zhang Wan Yi! 🤩🤩 I was already sold, on those two points. ❤️
I aim to have the initial episode notes out this week, for both shows, so you can look out for them.
4. My Christmas voice note
In case you missed it, I recorded a quick little Christmas voice note last week, where I sing my Christmas wishes to you all. ❤️
If you haven't had a chance to check it out, you can do so here.
5. This week's Entertainment Drop
I've prepped this week's Entertainment Drop as usual, and I hope you guys enjoy. Today, I'm most taken with a quick interview clip featuring a very cute Wu Lei. 😍 (Attention, our resident Wu Lei fan club! 😁)
..And that's it from me, for now.
Happy New Year, everyone, and may 2024 be a better, healthier, stronger, happier year for us all. ❤️🥰
KFG ❤️
