Oh and you mentioned Star Trek TNG, there was the episode Second Chances where they find the duplicate of Comm Riker and the duplicate Tom Riker wants to rekindle the relationship with Deanna but eventually chooses his career, again. And Parallels is where Worf is thrown into alternate realities and some of them he and Deanna actually have a relationship and I think even get married in one of the realities
