2024-10-05 21:56:17 +0000 UTCI love this movie, although I agree with you (and critics) that the cop stuff is too dark and violent -- they feel like two different movies. But I do think it's one of Arnie's best performances, and Ivan Reitman went on to make another gentle comedy with him, TWINS, that is also very sweet and funny. Pamela Reed plays Arnie's partner in this and she is just wonderful. She's mostly known for being a Broadway/stage actress, but she has done a lot of TV and film since, and was also terrific in Parks & Rec, NCIS, Jericho, etc. I just love her here. The principal is played by the fabulous Linda Hunt, a character actress who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY. She is a fantastic actress and it was so good to see her here.

2024-09-28 18:18:25 +0000 UTCIf you want another movie with more of Arnie's signature blend of humor and action, Twins is great. It has a completely different plot, but you can see him applying the same unique combo of both, and it's also got some elements I know you often say are what get to you in films. It's an 80s movie, so it's also got the classic 80s cheese. True Lies is also great, and I think you'd enjoy it just as much. It came out after Twins, in the 90s, and Arnie stars alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. I loved this reaction, JV. So much fun.
