NRaO Chapter 71

Third-Person Point of View

The giant monster took two steps into the village, both destroying a building before the first wave of nearby shinobi flung thousands of kunai at it. Most bounced off and the few that did pierce into the tailed beast's skin didn’t do anything significant to it. The beast was the size of a mountain, a full-size kunai wouldn’t even feel like a splinter to it. Even still, the few that did pierce into the tailed beast were pushed out as it automatically healed itself.

The first high-ranking shinobi to show up and help fight the beast was the White Fangs. He had the same problem, even though his blades could pierce into the beast, only the longer one Orochi made did any consistent damage, even then the wounds made rapidly began to close as they healed. Hatake Sakumo would never be able to kill the beast by himself, even if it stood still and didn’t attack him. But he was a good distraction for the real powerhouses of the village.

The next to arrive was the Hokage followed shortly after by Jiraya as he was still putting his pants on. His bits dangling in the wind before he finally got them up. None of them spoke, less than a minute had passed since the last large-scale attack, and Sakumo was the only reason those large-scale attacks didn’t continue. Sarutobi summoned his staff attempting to fling the tailed beast away.

It was just too heavy, Isobu wasn’t really the best at anything in the tailed beasts but he did have one thing going for him, his weight and defense. He almost managed to flip it before it got to a ninety-degree angle. Jiraya struck the underside trying to help flip it but even with the two working in tandem the beast managed to right itself almost crushing Jiraya in the process.

The moment Tsunade showed up to the fight, she didn’t fuck around going full strength. Her sage mode was acquired through time, once she ran out then she couldn’t go into the mode again until it slowly refilled. The thing was every single person who also had the seal added to the time. Many of Orochimaru’s wives had the seal and had never used it, effectively becoming batteries for someone stronger to make more use of the seal. That was Tsunade, dozens of Orochi’s women bunkered down with the children, the mark on their heads glowing as they felt the nature energy they stored be siphoned to their guardian.

A punch connected flipped the tailed beast, she was at least twice as strong as Hiruzen using his staff in her sage form. Isobu still managed to remain upright, the blow only knocking the beast back a few hundred feet. The monster could still hit the village if it fired in that direction. Even Kato Dan made an appearance, his crippled body made it impossible to take on missions but as the beast was next to the village, his spirit could reach and attack.

The best part of his technique is it left him intangible but still allowed him to strike. He only had the strength of an average shinobi but he could dive at the tailed beast's eyes keeping him even further distracted. Jiraya hesitated as he grabbed at a bottle tucked into his clothes, the liquid must have been extremely expensive and valuable as he kept it on him even while naked. He took the liquid in his mouth before breathing it out. “Toad sage art, flaming oil ball.”

A ball of oil shot out of his mouth the burning was so efficient that the flame was almost invisible. It struck the middle of the tailed beast's back before spreading over him completely. The monster's shell began to grow more and more heated as it grew sick of the nat-like humans attacking it over and over again.

Tsunade’s next attack which could have ended the fight instead brought about a different change. As she struck the shell holding the tailed beast it exploded. The mountain-sized creature struck down to about half the size, but it felt far more deadly than it was previously. Most of the shell flew away from the village, but some pieces reached. They destroyed buildings as they kept rolling, smashing through multiple before finally coming to a stop.

The fragments from the shell shot out like a million tiny needles, piercing any who didn’t have the speed or jutsu to stop themselves from being injured. Sakumo was struck and fled, serving his purpose as a distraction was already more than most had done. Unbeknownst to everyone, someone had been watching the fight happen the entire time and chose that time to strike. Sarutobi Hiruzen was expecting the attack from the front, so as a sword pierced his back he was left completely surprised.

It was aimed at his heart and struck true. His shock quickly changed to fear as Orochi leaned forward and whispered in his ear. “Thank you for your sacrifice Hokage. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Biwaku for you.” With that another sword pierced into him draining the last bit of his life from him. Orochi didn’t immediately reveal himself, instead, he prepared the Hokage’s body by stabbing the shards of the shell into where his swords struck.

He watched as Jiraya took in another gulp of the oil and yelled. “Toad sage arts, toad swamp domain!” His eyes quickly fluttered in and out of sage mode as he did so. The rendered down oil was strong, it allowed him to use the toad sage arts without absorbing nature chakra but it was a closely guarded secret that only members of the Myoboku family held. He married into the family thus allowing him to learn how to produce the toad oil. It came with a side effect. As the tailed beast sank into the ground Jiraya wobbled as if he was drunk.

The beast had lost its defenses but had gained an equal amount of power. Jiraya turning the ground into a muddy bog was the only reason more hadn’t died. In a second it could have sprinted past them and brought destruction to the village, even now the hatred of the previous jinchuriki still leaked into him, it was that strong. Tsunade swapped places with a hunk of wood which freed her and jumped towards Isobu to try and finish it.

The shelless creature looked more like a salamander than a turtle, the biggest difference was giant craters all along its back. As she flew through the air the craters produced more hot water and steam from them, fogging up the entire area and pushing Tsunade even higher into the air making her overshoot the creature.

The creature knew who had done it to it as it stared directly at Jiraya. His foggy eyes cleared enough to know how much danger he was in as he chugged the rest of the bottle. The tailed beast ripped itself slowly out of the ground as the jutsu started to waver, it was only designed to hold an army while the frog who used it escaped. It was never designed to stop a tailed beast.

Jiraya burped as he spoke. “F-frog sage farts… Drunken frog dance.” He laughed as the thing got closer. “Farts!” The beast lunged at him, its intent to eat him clear as Jiraya stumbled forward. The slip somehow moved him under the beast's mouth, his slippery body allowing him to slide down the body launching him further underneath. “Toad sage farts! Pink belly!”

Jiraya took a horse stance before launching himself full speed into the tailed beast's stomach. The look of shock on his face could be seen as Jiraya smirked saying farts again. The look of surprise grew even more as Tsunade struck down slamming into his head. The tailed beast smashed into the ground leaving behind a hole that would become the great Konoha lake.

Even then the beast still rose after shaking off the fuzzy feeling in its head. Jiraya fell over and started to snore as the muscles Tsunade tore from the strike healed themselves. She prepared to draw the beast further away from the village before she finally heard someone's voice she had been craving for months to hear. “Long time no see Tsunade, you need help with this guy?”
