RW Chapter 80

BOOOOOOOOOM!

Dominic was blasted off the catwalk overlooking the wall separating the mansions from the outside. He fell headfirst; it should have been a broken bone at best, or his neck being snapped at worst, but he had a power, and his power was accommodated by having several large containers of water all placed around the area.

He could make water, but it was costly. It was much cheaper to control already prepared water nearby, and that was exactly what he did. In his panic, he pulled water to himself, dulling the impact, sparing him a broken bone, as the water also put out the nearby fire the explosion caused. Even if he’d have landed and come away uninjured somehow, he’d have landed on burning debris, but his water protected him from both.

He got up just in time to see people storming through the new entrance in the wall. Two of the guards he was working with were torn apart by the explosion, and more were injured from falling off as well. In that do-or-die moment, Dominic chose to do. His gun was wrenched free from his hands, but still within distance of the water being dispersed, allowing him to pull the gun to himself.

He quickly fired into the air as he called out. “Back! Anyone who comes through this fence gets a fucking bullet put into them!” Several looked wary, but a much larger portion either didn’t care or had their attention pulled to him. As dozens poured in, he had to put his money where his mouth was, and as a group prepared to bumrush him, he fired into the crowd.

Similar situations were happening all around the border of the mansions. Most were in a similar position; gunmen could easily stop a group, but firing into a large crowd was only as effective as it was when you had bullets to fire. The mansion was surrounded by tens of thousands of people, even though it was late in the day, and most of the people had gotten their food and left, a large congregation stuck around the entire walled-off area.

Needless to say, the walls were impossible to defend, especially with such a coordinated attack. None realized until much later that the explosions weren’t placed; the explosions came from people, which is why they could get so close without realizing what was happening.

Victor kissed Akiko as they managed to get some time away from their kids. Victor’s kid was a lot older; she was grown enough to wander off most of the time, old enough that she only really checked in with her father for his sake, not her own. It meant most of their time was spent getting Alex distracted by something, so they could break off to have some alone time between the two. Just as the clothes came off, and the fun was initiated, the explosions rang out.

BOOM!

Both of their eyes went wide as they frantically began to put their clothes back on.

Melissa and Lissa were outside, taking care of the large group of animals, making sure they were all getting fed and none of them were bullying the others. Both were technically the same woman, so both liked animals more than most humans. The only real soft spot they had for people was too their family and the guy who stuffed them like cream-filled donuts every chance they could get.

Lissa was more ruthless than Melissa was, her hard life sharpening her soft edges, so when a rooster started bullying the other chickens, she snapped its neck with no hesitation as she began plucking the feathers off while Melissa stared at her in shock and horror. Without missing a beat, Lissa responded. “What? We’ve got more roosters, and where do you think the meat you love to eat comes from? These aren’t really our pets; they’re our food source and protection, you silly girl.”

Boom!

Both girls were already staring at each other as they began to move, both doing completely different things. Melissa hurried and pushed the livestock back toward their shipping containers while Lissa ran over to let the dogs loose.

Boom! As the explosion rang out, it was the call to action for most, but some didn’t answer it. About a quarter of the ‘combatants’, the police force that was brought in to protect the mansions, hid along with the other residents. Almost every one of Danny's girlfriends moved to see what was happening, some even prepared to defend their home with deadly force if necessary.

The defenses on the mansions they added would only buy them so much time, and while there were tons of guns scattered all throughout the mansions, it still took time finding, transporting them, and using them from the windows higher up.

Darcy went to look out her window just to see what was happening before a rock came smashing through, and her body was riddled with bullets. She fell to the ground, shaking as she finally realized how much danger they were in. She couldn’t help but curse out. “Fuuuuuck! That hurt! Alright, so bullets don’t kill me, but they still fucking hurt.”

Vicky’s entire body shook as she pointed the shotgun out the window and fired. She was holding the gun wrong and didn’t expect the kickback, which launched the gun right out of her hand. She screamed in fear before Brandy grabbed her gun before saying. “Jesus Christ, go somewhere else, you’re worse than useless.”

Brandy picked up the shotgun as she put her back against the wall right beside the window. She took a few quick breaths before popping out and firing three quick shots before moving back into cover. As she did, the window erupted into gunfire. If she used the window again, there was a real chance she’d be gunned down before she could fire again. A ladder was placed against the window, and a man began climbing up it just to be greeted with the barrel of the shotgun that had just killed some of them ten seconds earlier.

The first man up was blown away, falling back down and taking the ladder with him before it was set up again. The people moved with an insatiable greed, knowing that if they could make it into the house, they could live comfortably, at least for a few days until the large force used up all the resources.

Vicky ran away, in complete hysteria from the situation. This wasn’t what was supposed to happen; the world was supposed to be kind to them for helping so many people, so why was this happening? In that moment, it finally clicked for her. The world she knew was gone; people might kill you for absolutely no reason now, let alone because you have things they want.

With an unwavering attitude, she moved back down to the basement where the syringes were. One gave a power, but could kill her, the other would increase her strength… And she wasn’t sure which she was going to take yet; she would only know once she had both in her hands.
