Development update - September 2025

Hi folks,

We have some very exciting months ahead of us! Day 4 is finally closed and we're moving to the last day in our story. Don't worry, that won't be the end yet - I'm planning on writing epilogues too. But let's don't get ahead of ourselves! Right now, after releasing v0.50, I'm working on several things at once - the most important one being the full sketch for day 5. Before I'm ready to start writing, I make myself a detailed flow of scenes until the end of the day, and even if I decide to stray from it while writing, it sets the direction and purpose before the writing even starts. For day 4 I was working on these detailed flows before each next update, but for day 5 I want to take some extra time to have everything planned and ready beforehand, especially considering how I want day 5 to work.

For day 5 I'm cycling back to a similar flow that days 1/2 had - instead of fully separate route, day 5 will have a certain core flow with specific scenes being route and/or choice dependent. That means faster development and updates for more characters at once - the first one will include both Rune and Devon, but likely more then just them. First the plan, then I'll know for sure!

I don't plan to release a full update for Dawn Chorus in September. Instead, I'm focusing on planning for day 5, but also closing the work on Broken Harbours and re-releasing that, and coordinating more reworks. At the moment Haku is finishing work on all-new redrawn expressions for Rune, this time keeping him front-facing, and starting re-drawing Lake, both of which I'll share soon as a sneak peek. Both will appear in a smaller update to v0.50 near the end of the month, an update that will also hopefully include a fix for the currently tiny buttons on Android, some new music, NSFW scene for the end of Lake's day 4 and more.

There's a lot to do, so I'm going back to work. I hope to have more news for you soon!
