As a precocious and romantic little ginger queer myself, Anne Shirley was queen of my heart growing up. To celebrate my approaching birthday month, May’s postcard pays homage to this most incredible and pure-hearted sapphic romance of children’s literature — Anne and her Diana.
I was looking at a lot of Cicely Mary Barker (another staple my childhood) as I tried out a more watercolor-evoking color technique. I’m not sure how I feel about it, haha, but it was a fun experiment. No gradient map here, but rather a more typical lineart over painted color approach. I truly do love inking intricate lines, particularly with procreate’s “blotchy” brush, and I’d really like to pull it back into my other illustrations more. This coloring process was a real struggle, however, and I’ll be putting it on the shelf for the time being haha.
There are currently 1 Crow Collector and 4 Raven Dandy slots open! Just a reminder that on April 15th, I’ll be purging declined accounts, removing patrons who haven’t paid for 2 or more months. I expect a few dozen CC and RD slots to open up then, so if you’re trying to move your tier, that will be a good day to do it.
