Writing Update

Hey Everyone,

First of all, just wanted to apologise for the silence over the last few weeks. The release of Scavengers went really well, and it highlighted a number of potential problems for Book 3 that I needed to figure out. I realised I wrote in the wrong direction, and didn't feel right about uploading the chapters, only to change the storyline. Some of you would likely have been okay with the direction Book 3 took, but ultimately, I didn't think it was fair to the characters and decided to re-write the start. It's meant that I don't have chapters at the moment to share with you, but will starting from the middle of next week.

Why next week? Because I made the tough decision to leave Larian Studios. I've loved working on Baldur's Gate 3 and building the narrative team, but it's time for me to give writing my full attention. I've been working hard to get everything handed over and writing up manuals for the next person they bring into the team. I'll be finished on the 13th of February, and moving into writing full-time from the 14th.

This weekend I was at a LitRPG writers conference, talking to author friends and catching up. Jez, Lars, Michael Head, Chatfield, Seth Ring, Eric Ugland, Tao and so many more. It was honestly so great getting to talk to them about this writing journey, and it made me realise that I'm making the right choice in doing this full-time.

I'll just ask you to be a bit patient with me. I know that other content creators have a million chapters up and much better release schedules. I'm going to try my best to get this all working smoothly, but I will make mistakes and I will miss some days. I understand if this causes people to leave and wait for me to have more content up, and I respect you all making that decision.

In all honesty, I'm just so excited that I'm finally in a position to follow my dreams. I'm so sincerely grateful to all of you that helped me get to this point with your support. Here's to 2024 being the best year of Quest Academy!
