Page 4 WIPs
Added 2021-10-16 22:07:48 +0000 UTCDidn't feel up for more templates/coloring so I worked a bit on the next page for my comic! Wanted to show progress on that. This page was actually sketched like.. months ago? I tend to do 2 - 3 pages sketched at a time since once you're in the zen of sketching, it's only a detriment to the process to stop for the sake of linework or toning.
My process goes:
- Rough Sketch
- Putting in the (final) frames, dialog, and speechbubbles
- Making a cleaner sketch
- Linework (and along with it often sfx things where relevant)
- Tones
- Shading
(with highlighting happening from lines -> shading at all points because I'll forget if I don't do it the moment I'm like "oh, that thing will need highlights")
I want to do a full timelapse of a page being completed but it'll have to wait until the next time I'm sketching them, which idk when that'll be. I try to make sure these pages take a backseat to all other responsibilities.
Also, I hate outlining metal since it needs to look pretty flawless, but I /really/ enjoy shading metal and will probably miss it the moment all these characters take off their armor (soon). The only metal left at some point is gonna be Sau's necklace, which just doesn't hit the same high as over-shading big gaudy pauldrons.
