Little Starling Anniversary✨

One year ago today I decided to start publishing Little Starling online and it was one of the best decisions ever!

Also two days ago it was Zazu‘s birthday so, I am celebrating that a little bit🎉

Now a bit about the piece: this is actually a second attempt, after I tried the first time with traditional mixed media and failed horribly! It looked like a stylistically inconsistant convoluted mess. Which sounds quite fitting for Zazu… but I wasn‘t comfortable posting it even after multiple attempts of editing it digitally. What I tried doing with this was considering how I might go about it traditionally and try and paint just like that.

In my mind, I would love to mix Harry Clarke/Kay Nielsen + contemporary simple illustrative ornaments (love Leigh Ellexsons work!) + Fauvism (Matisse) + Dior-like sketches and I still have no idea what it might look like or how i would go about it but I feel like this isn’t something I can do digitally. I will miss the ctrl+delete command…
