What's the best version?

Beta version tends to bring down the bpm for nothing when splitting track vocals & backvocals - Also no access to downpitch anymore on this version. For advance mostly for signers you want to be able to directly chop the vocals and back vocals on you system. Then extract your version. No one wants only an empty track without back vocals. You also can't export the tracks independently at ounce on separate tracks. It seems the beta version was mostly for quality maybe and adding a better mix... I'm really wondering what it brings. insted why don't you just integrate the new features to upgrade what you already have mastered ?

I think that the standard version works beautifully for what I need - But, unless there is a significant infrastructure reason to remove a version that some people are using, I would encourage you to leave the options open for folks having good results from the alternate versions.

i usually use it the splitter to mix house and techno and the IA has some difficulties with separating the melody from the claps and cymbals, but generally Defaut work better but as carlos says it is very dependant of the instruments used in the song

I use all of them. They all have different behaviors and offer different results depending on the track. If one could switch easily between them and choose the best result on each instrument, could be useful, nevertheless I notice slight tone and time variations. Sometimes results for drums is better on Default, sometimes on Guitar. Some instrumental results are better with Beta. The more stable choice is still Default.. I try all of them, honestly.

Hi Melnik, Im a patreon and finding it a very useful tool. Is there any possibility of splitting what ends up in the music file more discreetly into guitar / piano etc? Mostly I use the isolated bass tracks with only drum and vocal in order to learn the bass parts of songs Im covering. Adding back the music track makes the bass a bit obscured but just one of the "music" instruments would be good

I'm certainly not saying there's anything wrong with the cloud-based version, but I feel bad about sending the same song through your server over and over again because I want to make a minor tweak to the initial settings. I tried first 2 versions on synthwave to remove the horrible drums they add to the songs. The problems i hear is a volume drop on the drum beats. Agreed. I use it for transcribing music and sometimes the ‘guitar’ version creates silenced sections if a synth and lead guitar overlap so best case would be to have ability to mix in the ‘music’ part for that section.

I think it is really dependant on the song. I think default probably sounds better overall but also the 5 split definately has it's uses if quality is not your main concern. Yes the bass sounds better 4 ways but having that guitar seperated out of the music section rlly helps with hearing non-traditional sounds within the music? (i don't know the technical terms i apologise (Though this probably makes more sense for electronic music rather than more acoustic sounds)

Honestly, I like both default and with guitar 'cause that way I can get splits with great quality (I did tried the beta but it wasn't as good). But I've been having a better experience with the one with guitar so far. I get better split tracks with that one for most songs I tried.

Hi Melnik, I tried your guitar isolater on "what they do" by the roots, which has some beautiful work by Chalmers Alford. But it seemed to be struggling on some of the chords. It puts part of it in the music section and part of it in the guitar section. I'm thinking it might need more training on clean guitar chords. Amazing work though and I thoroughly enjoy using this program, its produced some of the cleanest separated tracks ever. Thank you!

This is usually due to the track having a compressor or limiter applied to it, it's not a bug of the splitter.

I used this Ai to remove vocals and when I downloaded the music tracks, they sounded like they had a warble to them. They weren't clear like the original track was. any way to correct this? It sounded like an old tape that was worn.

The Beta version gives me much better final results a lot of situations. Try it with Boney M. - Oceans of Fantasy ;) and compare to the Default one. Thight, more dynamic, and the musical instruments are "stay" in the mix much more. Versus the Default version where they are struggles a lot more or just simply vanished. I just love it. Please keep the Beta too.

I'm sure it depends heavily on the source, but the differences were very minimal. I downloaded all 13 tracks into my DAW, setup a separate bus for each- Default, Beta, With Guitar. Then, I muted all tracks except the matching tracks from each bus. Finally, I used mute buttons to A-B each result. Here are my notes: Song: You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive - Brad Paisley Vocals: The Beta resulted in cleaner vocals for me at least. There was no discernable difference between Beta and With Guitar Bass: I heard very slightly less phasing distortion on both Beta and With Guitar Drums: Beta was much cleaner than Default. With Guitar had slightly less ambience than Beta, but Beta sounded overall better to my ears. The kick especially sounded more rounded to me. Music: I heard almost no difference between Default and Beta or With Guitar when combining both Music and Guitar. Thoughts: The only really strange thing I noticed is a wood block that ended up in the Music track for all 3 algorithms. However, With Guitar did seem to grab at least part of the initial transient, which hurt the drum stem overall, but had very little impact on the quality of the Music track. Overall, I had better results with Beta, but I really like the option to have a separate guitar stem. Thanks for all the great work!

The guitar seems to be useful for isolating some of the electronic parts in music without guitars like EDM. but when I use the Guitar stem and then combined all the stems I feel like they are missing background parts of the song. (Also if your still thinking about adding more instruments a bell splitter could be helpful. Or a keyboard/synth splitter could really help with electronic music)

for vocals specifically i noticed that Beta would produce a nicer-sounding vocal file but would also contain more artifacts from something like the drum track. the default is amazing because it removed all artifacts from vocal track but the sound quality is not as good

The tool is really superb! I would suggest keeping both default and guitar splitters since sometimes bass and guitar results are mixed up with not the best clear results on bass. So I would suggest getting your bass drums and vocals audio from default and only your guitar from guitar splitter.

my answer: IT DEPENDS. sometimes with electronic music that don't have any guitar might confuse the ai and split stems in the wring section. so the best option when it will release is that we could chose the differents stems we wanna the AI to split before prosessing. eventually, if there is more instruments that can be isolated the option to chose how many and wich stems would be the best of all world ... Also The BETA put the bassline of one song to the music channel and then switched while the Default had it corect. note: the baseline is the same trought all the song and it's the same 3 notes

Personally I like your guitar stem. I think you should go in the stem separation as you do it very well and being patron of your site is very affordable as well. If you are gifted in music don't waste it, Take advantage of your knowledge of music to create stems ( especially that those are the most modern standards of making instrumentals).

Default works just fine. But the 'with guitar' is no good. When I go to that I choose a file, it loads pretty fast, then says "audio processing" then moves to "loading" that goes too 100% and then nothing. The tab crashes or it sends me back a few screens and back to default. I got one song to work finally and it was really good. But one; one single song out of 300+ It's a waste of time and a disappointment.

The greatest amount of splitting/separation possible the better, to give the greatest number of options. Of course, I understand that results will be very much dependent on the instrumentation of the particular song that's chosen. (For no particular reason) I used Love Shack as a test case, and there's definite variations. In a perfect world, all three versions would remain so I could pick and choose each time I required, depending on the track. Amazing work Melnik, thank you.

Default & Beta are best. Whenever you use "with guitar" it removes any type of piano. I've done multiple tracks and it's done that multiple times. I think its best to stay with Default & Beta, if you had to do one, beta.

They all good although I would say for some type of voice isolation Beta worked for me as the best. Specifically speaking in audio where I wanted to isolate voice from orchestra and left with only strings, cello, bass cello etc. sound.

I tried Journey's Don't Stop Believing and the guitar one seemed like it couldn't tell the difference between the piano and guitar. It seemed to remove all of the piano in the first section of the song for the most part. Both the default and beta are solid choices!

For my purposes, I just need vocals removed and a clean instrumental, and I found the default to be a slightly cleaner sounding version. Both still sound phenomenal compared to every other site on the internet doing this, so keep up the good work!

I made the same song in all three options: the new one with guitar I notice that it's good that the guitar is in separate parts, but the bass disappears, it's not in the bass channel or in other instruments. In the beta or in default it does not do that, the bass is still there. If all the channels are combined in the vein or default version, the song remains the same as the original, however, in the "with guitar" version, some instruments are lost

i tested the beta & the guitar option with manchester orchestra’s angel of death. the beta option has less spots where each stem leaks into one another, however the guitar option seems to do a better job with the drums. given that the guitar option adds an extra isolated stem, i think it is better overall.

I think the guitar options is very important and its a small step for a huge success, but it still needs a lot of improvement, because the algorithm doesn't fully understand that it shouldn't make full parts of the songs disappear. It needs to be fixed.

I think the guitar is a step in the right direction, at least for separating a lot of general pop/rock, its when you get the more adventurously recorded material that things get interesting, espcially with ambient pieces.

with the few songs i tried it on, the beta variant seemed to yeld the best quality, however the guitar version is more useful because it further splits the track. if anything, i would suggest leaving as is, with emphasis on improving the guitar version

The guitar splitter having some problems… usually some of the music parts disappeared without a clue. I think you need to keep all of the versions, and keep working on the guitar, until it’ll be fixed. So: don’t remove anything yet. It’s not the right time.

Greetings ~ ~ I have tried (various music) from several artists and styles (from the 1920s to the present) . . . ~ from simple to completed musical layers (and) found that - the version with the guitar - is more outstanding in terms of separation and is headed in the right direction. ~ however, to be transparent, it (also) depends on the source, as some of the layers are not separated. ~ this could be because of the recording. ~ as I am assuming that the tracks are more separated or combined and depending on how the original/studio separates it, which WILL determine the outcome of the track. ~ so the results WILL VARY! ~ I (also) have used it to separate BGM from Anime and using the vocal/SFX parts individually to add them to my collection of SFX and Music is very helpful! ~ I realize that these things take time to - "train" - so it is worth it to see this program's Ai learn as it goes along and see what (actually) changes with each iteration - "watching Ai history in the making" - is just mindblowing. ~ I am looking forward to seeing more - tweaks - done to this Ai and seeing how it progresses . . . ~ THANK YOU! for a VERY USEFUL TOOL!

The plus guitar one is fun, but I too have noticed it almost completely remove the piano in some tracks eg Shut Up by Madness. The default is the most solidly reliable one, when it comes to doing what it's supposed to.

I have noticed that when I use the guitar splitter option some of the other tracks disappear. The piano part on the beginning of Toto's"Hold the Line" and Clapton's "pretending" vanished. The simple vocal remover option is the best.

All my tests for the guitar splitter, give a nice guitar track but very little to nothing on the music track. No piano or any of the other instruments. However with the normal and beta splitter these instruments come out great.

I've been trying to isolate an electric guitar from a rock cover. The track was phased flipped to help isolate the lead guitar. I put it through all three versions and the Guitar Splitter was better able to isolate the guitar from the drum's symbols, but the Beta track overall sounded better over Default. I think with time and tuning the Guitar split can be better.

I tested the guitar splitter with a tune called "Rhythm of Your Life" by the Rippingtons and it omitted the piano part all together. So, my guess is that it may be a little buggy. But maybe you can get it to split the piano part to another separate stem? I'm waiting for a serarate stem for the sax. There are a few tunes I would like to remove the sax lead.
