Side cut tutorial

Step 1: once you have the head drawn, draw the hairline
Step 2: find the center of the head and draw little “V” shapes coming out from the center following the hairline. Bring it down in front of the ears if you want the character to have sideburns of any sort
Step 3: where the hair meets the shaved edge, begin drawing little C or V shapes depending on the hairstyle you’re going for to differentiate the two textures.
Step 4: erase the areas that are cover by the hairstyle and voila!!
Note: you can fill the shaved area with grey or thin straight lines in sketches to simulate that its shaved. If you plan to color it later that’s not necessary unless you want to add a bit of texture.
