Tube Audio - VS - Transistor Audio, Let's Look And "Listen" To The Differences!

Grab your favorite snack, sit back, and lets take a look, listen, and discuss the most common reasons that create the differences between tube and transistor audio. We will listen to a tone while looking at it on an oscilloscope, you will hear and see the difference while the device's are being driven into distortion.

When I was a child folks used to be amazed at my ability to hear distant sounds and I absolutly loved rock and roll music as well as the deep sounds that came from the old Country and Western sounds of the 50's and 60's. Sadly I lost that ability when I shipped over to Vietnam. A year around very loud gunfire and artillery both incoming and outgoing, as well as those wonderful Huey rides with no ear protection took away those abilitys. As I watched this video, I found I could not identify which was tube and which was transistor. Perhaps my old age has increased this loss as I hit 70 years of age last May. The VA has been giving me some very high quality hearing aides and a small check to compensate me for my loss but they don't bring back what was lost. Oh sure I can hear folks talking to me much clearer and that's the purpose of the whole routine I guess but the sounds of the crickets at night are now a memory, The aides did bring back the birds if I am outdoors with them but going in the house takes them away as well. I guess that was a small price to pay for serving the nation I love. I once tried to explain the service to a non veteran, and the best I could come up with was: When you take the oath you offer your life up to your nation. When the uniform comes off, your nation returns your life to your own control it is sort of like a post dated check. When your time in service is up, your nation returns what portion of the check that is left on account. With me, they kept a bit of my hearing, many of my brothers in arms found the check was cashed, and they lay in honor in National Cemeteries all over these United States, and The World for that matter.
