I guess the backpack contains a small tent and a sleeping bag plus some food for the smal guy. Then he can relax, helping his big friend to stay away from a couple of meals. The mouth gag keeps the big boy quiet.

Perhaps the backpack contains a multitude of ropes and maybe a snack. Binding and edging are hungry work. None for the big guy though. Looks like he could miss a few meals.
