Shrine concept sketches
Added 2018-03-08 05:38:46 +0000 UTCI have one more set for the regular Samurai Village buildings to make, but you wanted the shrine next. So here comes ... :-)
While looking through the research pictures I have collected, I was able to identify the basic structure. It's a house on a platform and the roof has an extension over the stairs leading up to the entrance.
My first sketch had an irimoya style roof and look fine to me. But then I saw other shrines where I saw the potential for an expanded variation. For that I needed to change the roof to this.
Now when I add the expanded platform and building parts you can build this!
I really like this last two versions, because I always love it when I can reuse parts for expanded versions.
So what do you think? Can you imagine this on your build list and gaming table? Anything else I should consider or add?
Also I need a new name for a new series. The Samurai Village Builder series will contain just the "normal" houses. I will create a new series name, the "Samurai Village Specials", that will contain the, well, special buildings, like this, the tea house or the village chief Samurai house.
On to make some first prototypes!

Making complete fencing with straights, corners and gates, etc would make more sense and give you a complete product in the long run perhaps?, maybe this could be part of a set with the grass sections with roads/pathways/streams in the future if it needs to be bigger? I was just looking at your designs thinking i would print out what builindg sheets they are on and cut them out, but that would be wasteful.

I have looked at research photos and squashed both the height of the raised platform and the fences. But it's a good idea to make some fences while I am at it anyway :-)
