Elders house design continued ...
Added 2018-06-01 05:24:28 +0000 UTCWhile working on the geometry and design of the new upcoming elders house I was planning to make a raised entrance module if you did not go with the veranda (engawa) as the floor would then be floating in the air.
During a break I then went back to research and read some chapters in my books about Japanese architecture and remembered that usually the entry of the building via the engawa was reserved for honored guests, Samurai and other VIP. The common entrance was on ground level into the space of the house where the work and cooking area was on bare earth.
This lead me to this extension building that would fulfill just this function. It can also be used as a joiner to connect another engawa part on the other side. Or you can just use it stand alone!
I like this design very much as it gives you many options from small house to large building complex.
Let me know what you think while I start to build the first prototypes!
