I don't want to spam you daily with little updates, but at this stage I am so excited about each step, I just had to show you the progress :-)
I have completed the geometry for the structures I want to add on deck. In the bow there will be a little more to hold the front jib sail beam in place, but I'll work on that when I focus on sails and mast/beam.
Behind these comes the windlass, which is for moving the heavy anchor(s). Then come the bilge pumps, which are used for pumping out water that may have collected in the deepest area of the hull below.
And finally in the stern section I have put the cabin module. This will be a removable piece like the one shown or a glued in place version to seamlessly connect to the railings as it really would. The removable options does have the advantage of using the same boat model in two distinctly different configurations!

Next I was checking out where the gun ports would go best. I think the red colored markings will be the optimal positions. I will even make an optional gun port on the raised deck area, so you could have 4-6 cannons.
Right now the cannons don't fit through the gun ports so they are positioned way to far back into the deck. Once I can position them right, they will cover only one square inch for better movement of minis. This way the placement of structures on deck will be aligned with the movement grid (if you print that layer).
Ok that's all for today :-) Next I will work in all the corrections I need for the cannons and then do a quick rebuild of the prototype.
Happy building,
Chris
