I have been working the last days on giving the hull some color and here is a first pic to show you in which direction i am going. The details on the deck floor are all optional. So you can adjust what you want to see there. The metal rings are for holding cannons in place and will make more sense once the cannons are there :-) If I have time I will add another layer with ropes, that will go from the metal rings under the cannons. I think that could add great detail to the look.
Next I put all the deck stuff in position and was happy with the look. As usual I found some minor things I need to correct but in general it looks great. I will make some of the ships hull planks a little narrower. This will in turn make the ship look a little larger I think. Also I need to adjust the positioning of the cannon rings (esp the ones on the raised deck) due to the curving of the hull and the first and last cannons are a little rotated.
I am guessing for gaming you will not want to cramp up the space of the deck with all the structures but for display I really like the details!

Finally here's a look at the stern. I messed up the geometry a little here. I made an adjustment which I only transferred to the outer and inner layer but not the core middle layer :-) So now you see that mismatch on the corner edge. As it's all black it is not really visible but being the perfectionist that I am I fixed that the minute I saw it in the build.

Still a lot to do. I will create the textured deck structures next and then move on to the sailing rig.
Until next time, have fun and keep building,
Chris
