Sloop Sailing Rig mock-up

After collecting all the details on the rig for this ship I was able to make this very rough test of mast and sails for the Sloop. This will help me find the final dimensions of all the parts required. The main sail is at the limit of the page size so I think that will be pretty much it. The stay and jib sail at the bow will get some minor changes, so the lines to the bulwark will lead to better positions. For now I just glued them in place so the whole thing wouldn't fall apart all the time :-)

The mast extension I hope to design in a way that it can be taken apart. As usual I want the set to be stored easy and safe.

Finally I tested the ratlines. To make them removable I came up with this slot-in-and-fold-down to the hull.

When you insert the flap the small tab can be bent down, thus holding the ratline firm in position.

Next I will start finalizing all the new parts and then make a new build of the hull (maybe even with added weathering) and then use that as a base for testing the new rig parts.

Until next time, have fun and keep building,

Chris

Thank you very much! Right know I am knitting the ratlines adding the knots manually. Your comment was a most welcome boost :-)
