Here's an update on the WIP of the Chinese court yard houses. As you can see I have finished a bulk of the wall texturing.
For now I have focused on the brick "skin". It's the simplest and represents the poorer inhabitants. For the richer folks I will make the house front with the decorative wood panels as in my sketch.
On the walls I will add optional elements like these round windows so you can customize each building.

I also want to make door options on the side because when you add the extension houses or the walkways you will need the opening!
Here's a better look at the veranda without the roof and columns covering it up.

Actually having the house without the columns might be a viable alternative build!
Speaking of the columns. This is just the simple flat columns version. I will make round ones too that you can slide over these flat ones. Also there will be a "red" version for officials. I have read that red was the official color for the officials buildings!
And this build is the smaller 8x6(4+2)" version of the main house. There will be a larger 12x6" too for huge court yard compounds.
Next I will work on the roof to get the texturing done :-)
How do you like it so far? I would also be interested if the non-asian-medieval-fantasy crowd can imagine using these buildings in an exotic location setting for their campaigns?
So until the next time, have fun and keep building!
