Welcome to the new patrons!
Added 2019-03-19 10:25:21 +0000 UTCHello and welcome to the new arrivals :-) I am so thankful about every new person that is interested in what I do and supports me with real money!
I do however want to point out - so there is no frustration and disappointment - that the reward for this month will be the Brig part 2 (as part 1 - the hull - was last months reward) containing masts, ratlines, sails and some deck structures. So if you came here expecting the full brig model (and all other ships I made and want to make), you need to wait for the Kickstarter to go live soon. I will also include a Frigate and Galleon as stretch goals as this will allow me to see if there is enough interest for such large ships!
If you want to just support me no matter what I do, please consider the $1 base level tier which will also get you extended versions of the free basic bits ... or any higher tier if you like :-)
Also you have the option to just follow (without pledging) to get all notifications of new free posts on my WIP of whatever I am working on at the time.
If you like my work, please spread the word. About my work, about my Patreon, about the Kickstarter when it comes. This helps me very much as I cannot possibly find all the groups and forums that would be interested in what I do.
So please adjust your pledges accordingly if required.
Thank you again for your interest and as always have fun and keep building!
Chris

Thank you for your feedback. I totally get it and as I am quite new to this I am still trying to figure out the best way to do things with Patreon (and other crowdfunding tools like Kickstarter). With this being my sole job I enjoy the steady income Patreon gives me - and as much as I would love followers to just support me selflessly :-) - I know that it's like any business relationship's give-and-take and you guys want and need your rewards to make this work! Heck, I spent so much time on trying to make the models be easy to build, I want to see you guys building them!!! Usually I release my creations one month later on the "public" shops but with the ships I always wanted to do a Kickstarter for several reasons. One big one was to be able to check if there is enough interest for the big ships I still have planned. I cannot waste my time on vanity projects if they are not viable commercially. A Kickstarter with stretch goals would be the perfect way to check this. But this lead to the current situation where I have a long backlog of models not being available to the public. And it doesn't help that the larger sets are split up over two months due to the longer development time. When someone joins "late" he runs the risk of getting just one half, which is also not good. That was the reason I made this "warning" post in the first place. As for the auto-cutter thing, yes, if you want your ratline pieces to not have the easy build black filling, you either need to manually cut the out (which will be a bit of work with the larger ships) or use an auto-cutter. OR go the transparency route which I have been asked about often. I usally cut all my models manually, but for the ratlines I will use the help of my auto-cutter too! So you see I am still trying to work out the best way how to handle development and promotion of new sets and I appreciate you taking your time to give me solid feedback. I do hope I can get you interested in supporting the KS. Planning to have it going in about one month. As always, wishing you and all to have fun and keep building! Chris

2019-03-22 08:07:03 +0000 UTCHey, thanks for this update. I appreciate you explaining what we'll actually get. For me, not getting the ship you've been posting little updates for since I backed you (a few weeks ago) is a deal breaker. I want to support your art, but ultimately, I need stuff to run my campaigns. I've also seen the complexities of your models and realize that I'd need a cutting machine to get good results. We both know that Patreon isn't a store, but I'm in this for selfish reasons, too. So I'll un-back now, and spend that money on MDF models instead. Good luck with your Kickstarter - hopefully I'll see you there.
