2D ships almost finished (and why it's taking so long)
Added 2019-05-27 14:46:17 +0000 UTCWhen I heard that some of you wanted 2D ships I thought I could quickly convert the deck textures into a releasable product. But a lot of promotion work and interaction with customers of the 3D ships and also testers feedback of the first conversions made me invest more time to get a good end product.
One feedback I got was that not everybody is happy and a bit overwhelmed with a lot of layers and thus options, so I have decided to make a "BASIC" edition with just one look and a "DELUXE" edition with all the options.
Above you can see the Sloop with the "light ocean" texture and also with swivel guns activated. My 3D ship had cannons and you can print that version too with the flat one. Also you could print the cabin interior and cabin roof.
For the sloop and the brig I am adding a bilge deck option (that you can lay out on the side of the table?) to take your action to the lower decks.
if you don't print the grates and hatches you will have a lighting effect where the sun is shining through the openings of the upper deck.
The same is true for the cabin interior. I am trying to make up for the missing "walls" with the lighting indicating where windows and doors are.
All the ships up to the Sloop are pretty much ready now and I just have to put the final touches to the brig.
I think I will have the new 2D sets ready for release beginning of the new month.
