Paypal support currency exchange so people in China can still support you with RMB even they only have a local Union Pay card, but with some extra fee. If they can apply a visa full currency credit card, or open the foreign exchange settlement(结汇售汇) function for their visa debit card, they can support you directly or with Paypal as well.

(The card would have a Visa or MasterCard brand on it normally) I am not sure if they can charge with an apple gift card or something. But it should not be a China area gift card.
