I’ve had to do this before with T2 and Aliens, lots of squinting, but it can be done 😆 Being more of an X-Men fan, I wasn’t as hyped about Tobey & Andrew’s return. It was great to see them, especially Tobey, and I love that they came back. I hope if the story allows for it, we see them again, it’s a big multiverse. But after you’ve seen a broken Professor X get the ultimate pep talk from his older, wiser, past/future self… 🤷‍♀️Sorry Spider-People, X-Men did it first, y’all need to calm down 😆😜 Nothing but love for the Spider-People 😘 Marvel wouldn’t be what it is today without them!

I love consciousness based time travel and enjoy the way they utilized it in this film. The idea that, while the events of this film did reset the timeline, it didn’t completely erase what came before. The fact that Logan, and by extension Charles, remember the original timeline, means that, in the grand scheme of things, that timeline still exists, even if only in memory. One of my favorite quotes from a piece of time travel media is: “You know, anything we do, even if we undo it, it happened nonetheless…in God's eyes.” 🤐No spoilers from anyone if you know where this quote is from🤐 Hopefully KL will witness it for herself, one day 😉😁 Thank you for this wonderful revisit of a true superhero classic.

KL reacting: “ERIK! You almost killed your friend.” Me reacting to KL’s reaction: “AGAIN!!!” This is what it’s all about!

CheshireKat528

“Just Because Someone Stumbles And Loses Their Way, Doesn't Mean They're Lost Forever." You have actually heard this line before in Dr.Strange: MOM. The Charles of universe 838 said this when Strange was on trial with the Illuminati. It was a heartwarming callback for those of us who had seen DOFP. I love that, even when Logan doesn’t have an Adamantium skeleton, Erik still finds a way to yeet his ass miles away. Erik’s brutality, is only surpassed by his flair for the dramatic.

I am so glad you were able to watch the Rouge cut! IMO it just flows better, plus we get more of Sir Ian being awesome with the Rouge rescue scene. I will never be mad at seeing more of McKellen’s Magneto in action! I love the parallel scenes with cuts from Fassbender breaking into a secure place to get his helmet back, and McKellen breaking into the mansion to get Rouge. Plus, the contrast to the very first movie when Erik kidnapped Rouge, and now he is helping to save her, just 🤌 Speaking of Erik’s helmet. I love the way it is utilized throughout the franchise as a visual representation of how he feels about his relationship with Charles. Also, which side he is on, so to speak, Erik is always on the side of mutants, just sometimes in a more extreme way than others. In First Class, Erik chose to shut Charles out and in essence, shut out his own goodness and conscience. This enabled him to become more extreme in his methods without reserve. In the beginning of DOFP, we see future Erik get off the jet after the OG X crew, and he doesn’t have his helmet on. This is because he is finally back where he belongs, fighting alongside Charles for the survival of their people. He has no want or need to shut Charles out again. Then in 1973, after the stand off at the White House we see Erik look at his helmet lying on the ground and make the conscious decision to leave it behind. He says “Goodbye Old Friend,” making a point of letting Charles see that he is choosing to leave his helmet, so that Charles knows he is keeping his mind and the lines of communication open. That if Charles ever needs him, he will be able to find him. Almost as if to say, I may be leaving, but I’m not abandoning you, not again. “All those years wasted fighting each other…” 😭😭😭 It’s SO GOOD!!!

yah it took a good bit of pausing squinting of the eyes but it worked !

Chris Elkins

I'm impressed you synced up with the theatrical! Thanks for watching.

kaiielle

I didnt have the Rogue cut so the struggle and fun of trying to sync the regular version up during the watch along was unique, I had to pause mine on obvious screens that I could resync to yours lol, but hey it worked. Was one my fav movies my first time seeing my reaction was holyshit did they really kill that certain X-men that certain brutal way.. ooh shit they did it again. Seeing all my favorite actors from both movies all in one somewhat a foreshadow of a spiderman movie to come later on ! This movie brought everyone together and pretty much reset the timeline of the originally movies and gave us the greatest Quicksilver scene ever !

Chris Elkins

Awesome to the max! There are a handful of episodes from the original Animated Series that 97 is a sequel to that I would recommend watching first if you are cool with that. I could make a list!

SomeOneGuy

If you're talking about X-Men '97, it is planned!

kaiielle

Towards the beginning of the movie when Trask is proposing his Sentinel program two of the guys in the meeting are Chris Claremont and Len Wein! Two of the most important writers for X-Men! Len Wein co-created Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler! Claremont wrote X-Men for 17 years in a row contributing some of the most important X-Men stories and molding all the characters into the way we know them today. He is responsible for Magnetos backstory as a Holocaust survivor and his friendship with Charles. Claremont also wrote the original Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, Days of Future Past stories. He also wrote God Loves Man Kills which is the story X-2 is based on. Also he's one of my favorite Comic Book writers! Also, I love your channel, you kick ass! And I hope after you react to all of the movies, you do the Animated Series! It's amazing!

SomeOneGuy

I think you've got Origins and First Class reversed.

Tyler Foster

Trask like many supremacists of the past mistake mutants as the destroyers of humanity because they believe that homo sapiens wiped out the Neanderthal when in fact humans absorbed the Neanderthals. They became homo sapiens. The same would happen with Mutants and humans, eventually all humans would become mutants over multiple generations. They believe mutants will exterminate them but it is them who do the exterminating, just like Nazis. Sort of a self-fulfiling prophecy type thing.

Carl Johnson

Imagine Michael Fassbender with blonde hair (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant) and he looks like Noah from Dark.

Carl Johnson

Eager to get to Logan! And thank you for the explanation, that's easy to remember.

kaiielle

The time travel aspect was super fun!

kaiielle

That's easy! Thank you.

kaiielle

Hope you had a good time!

kaiielle

Yes, definitely sticking to release order.

kaiielle

All the X-Men movies are taking place on Earth-10005. The complete timeline goes like this: X-Men: First Class takes place in 1762 X-Men Origins: Wolverine 1975 X-Men 2005 X2 2006 X-Men: The Last Stand 2007 The Wolverine 2013 X-Men: Days of Future Past 2023 (1973 in the past) Now they created a new timeline from 1973 onwarts. X-Men: Apocalypse 1983 X-Men: Dark Phoenix 1992 New Mutants 2017 Deadpool 2016 Deadpool 2 2018 Logan wakes up from his timetravel sleep from Days of Future Past. 2023 Deadpool & Wolverine 2024 Logan 2029 I would still recommend watching the movies in release order, because of spoiler reasons.

David Fürstenberg

This movie is definitely my second favourite, not on the level of ‘Logan’ but it’s still so damn good! So, to explain the timeline, I’ll put it this way. X men 1,2,3 wolverine origins and ‘The Wolverine’ have been completely wiped from the timeline Now the only canon things in the fixed timeline are “X-‘Men First class” the events of this movie that were in the past/70s and the future that Logan retuned to with Scott, Jean and storm being alive again The original timeline is gone and only Logan and Charles remember it (:

Sean H

Days of Future Past is my favorite X-Men movie! I love the time travel element and the OG X-Men cast interacting with the new X-Men. On top of that. I think I prefer the Rogue Cut to the theatrical. Can't wait to check out your reaction 😁

Future_Boy85

Watch for yourself!

kaiielle

Had to dig through a couple of boxes but I found my copy, realized I bought it three times…4K, 3-D and The Rogue Cut 😂. Worth the money all three times though.

Zachary Ketcham-Sorg

Love the movie. Never actually saw the rogue cut but it is great to see rogue get a important role in this movie. Time travel in X-Men universe is not handled well if you want to stick with continuity of the past movies. It is best to think everything is now a new timeline starting from the past with The professor

Christopher simeon

Didn’t see that one. Please don’t hate me, is that the Rouge whining all the time about her superpower. I guess I shouldn’t practice safe sex lol. 😂

Perry Campbell

Oh, fucking hell yes! Think this just might be my favorite X-Men movie (not counting Deadpool movies...'cause awesomeness). The blend of casts, the focus on James McAvoy's Xavier and Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Peter Dinklage...it's just all-around good. It's vastly different from the souce material; but, then all of the X-Men movies were anyway. And I like the changes. This, X-Men: First Class, X-2, and Logan, for my X-Men picks (not counting Deadpool movie...'cause awesomeness).

Steve Mercier

If the Mystique scenes added are the ones I think were the ones, then I'm def a Rogue Cut lover over theatrical. 😂

kaiielle

Yeah, while I enjoy this cut of the film, I've never been convinced that it's any better than the theatrical cut. Basically, I'll never lament someone opting to see the theatrical cut over this one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

William

Yes!!!! Ahhhh!!!! Gonna watch this RIGHT NOW! Freaking love this film!

boss435

FYI, if you Google any movie title with multiple cuts and "movie censorship" you should get a result from this foreign site by that name (I don't know what country the admins are in, but it's not NA) where they lay out the changes between two cuts of a movie. In the case of this, every appearance of Rogue aside the bit at the very end was an alternate bit of footage. There's no rescue mission, and Kitty does the mind thing the entire time. When I saw it, I wasn't 100% convinced that was worth it, but someone else pointed out that there were some additional scenes with Mystique that enriched her character motivations.

Tyler Foster

Awesome! 🤘🏼

William

If you're in America, you can use this page to locate it: https://moviesanywhere.com/movie/x-men-days-of-future-past-the-rogue-cut

Tyler Foster

Damn I don't have the rogue cut. I will see if I can find it.
