This Week: Mar 10 - 16

Hi everyone! 👋 A warm welcome to all of the new members, both paid and free! Thank you so much for choosing to be here. 🥰 If you don't know, you can browse through my entire reaction library (edits and watchalongs) on my website: kaiielle.com.

PLEASE READ:

We are getting closer to my time off in April (taking off almost three weeks of the month) and it's important to me to have reaction output continue while I'm gone, but admittedly it's very difficult to prepare for that while also trying to maintain my current output. I have made the decision to pull back a bit through the rest of March (across both Patreon and YouTube), to ensure that everything that I want to share in April (on both sites) are good to go. 👍

I also realized a big oops in that I forgot to make the room in my April schedule for the start of The Last of Us Season 2 and Andor Season 2. I debated just waiting and starting them both in May, but I know that I'll be too impatient.

This decision means that a couple movie reactions that were planned and expected for March are going to wait until my time off time is all done and I'm back to "norm". The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (pushed back purely for runtime reasons, sorry!) and The New Mutants (the demand for it isn't very high, but I still want to watch it).

And now for the week ahead...

🎬 Patreon Movie Watchers + Higher:

Now that I'm doing graphics again, it's a bit awkward to keep things secret, BUT please let me know if you'd rather have fun guessing! 😉

📺 Patreon TV Insiders:

The above dates of all movie and TV reactions are subject to change as the week progresses. Thanks for your understanding.

🎮 Twitch Streams:

All start at 18:00 MST. These playthroughs are being uploaded to the Games with KL YouTube channel, and I'm finally getting caught up! Make sure to peep the recent uploads.

For the rest of March, streams will only be on Wed and Thu.

📢 Remember to get your movie pick(s) in for April's Member of the Month draw. ⭐ The deadline is end of day Thursday April 3 and the draw will happen hopefully on Friday April 4.

TV Insiders Members:

As Firefly is coming to an end right before the majority of my time off, here's how the next few weeks will look for reactions:

I have to make the sad decision to reduce Agents of SHIELD to one episode per week, just while Andor is ongoing. It's because Season 2 is releasing in a three-episodes-per-week format, which is the equivalent of a movie. 😅 As soon as Andor is done, I'll resume the AOS releases back to two episodes per week. And I haven't forgotten about reacting to Chernobyl, but I am unable to fit that in until both Andor and The Last of Us are concluded.

I wanted to quickly remind the non-paying Patreon members here reading this post that my TV series reaction files are available for direct purchase through my Shop: https://shop.kaiielle.com as an alternative to subscribing here on Patreon. I just recently added Agents of SHIELD Season 3. Movies used to be there too, but due to time constraints I had to make the decision to stop offering those for direct purchase.

Okie, that's it, that's all! 🥳 Have a very fabulous week and thank you so much for everything! 😊

Comments

No need to apologize and I should have just started a new conversation. Hope you like these quirky movies. If you do, recommend grand Budapest Hotel and moonrise kingdom.

Joe

@Joe - sorry for the delay in replying. Patreon is incredibly hit and miss about notifying me of people's replies to *others* comments. This is my first Wes Anderson, yes. I haven't seen any of his films.

kaiielle

I don't have an answer to that one yet. I haven't mapped out those journeys far enough to know the answer.

kaiielle

Personally I love the movie but I also really enjoyed Dark Phoenix so what do I know HAHA

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

I have questions that may not have answers: do you think that you will be able to watch all the remaining Netflix MCU shows/seasons before you catch up to the current MCU and have to watch the new Daredevil Born Again season? If so, would love to hear it, but if not, what are you planning to do in that situation? Oh, and thanks for your time and reactions :)

Johnata Olivera

New Mutants is probably in my top Marvel properties. The original run in the comics is brilliant, but I didn’t watch the film because the reviews were pretty dire. I’m glad you’re watching it though as it might motivate me to give it a watch!

Nicholas Bielik

At a glance, I don't see any Anderson logged on her Letterboxd.

Tyler Foster

I'm glad you're doing "The New Mutants." I could have predicted that the demand for it wouldn't be very high. A lot of channels, even ones that watched everything else, just skipped it. Personally, I look forward to your reaction to it, even if you hate it. I'm just interested to see what you have to say.

BubblyRainbows

Didn't see it. I only saw this one because I am a huge fan of Danny Boyle and I liked The Social Network -- I have no particular interest in Steve Jobs.

Tyler Foster

Fantastic movies, fantastic shows - always look forward to your content

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

What did you think of the Kutcher Jobs?

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Sorry that was directed at KL. Should have been more specific since I was replying to you. Oops. I also really like his movies.

Joe

no, i have seen most of them (have not seen a couple of the newer ones). This and Life Aquatic are my personal favorites. RIP Gene Hackman.

RichieRich

No problem - and I appreciate all the hard work and replying to suggestions. Thanks a bunch!

Dan

I appreciate the idea! I'll definitely give it some consideration.

kaiielle

Okay, I see your points. On the other hand, while the YouTube audience might not have seen your future reactions, us patrons might not have anything left to spoil. Perhaps you'd consider a separate 2-5 min Patreon exclusive Editor KL video for the major episodes of your choosing? And you can advertise their availability to your YouTube audience as an incentive for more content they won't get from other YT/Pt content creators. It's just that this particular franchise/universe deals heavily in emotions that are hard to convey through text replies. Saying "I cried a lot while editing Ozymandias" just doesn't get the mirror neurons firing the same :)

Dan

Aww I'm sorry, I didn't know there were folks who didn't like that. Appreciate you letting me know now, at least. I assume the people who enjoy guessing what the movie may be probably won't mind at all if I stop doing it.

kaiielle

Is this your first Wes Anderson?

Joe

Thank you so much for announcing the reactor requests ahead of time. Never was a fan of keeping them a secret to be honest.

boss435

What's funny is that I had originally planned to do just that - to record editor reviews with every single episode and include them in the YouTube edits. Like you, I felt it was something unique that I could add to the reaction space. But I really sat and thought about it, and I thought about what the viewer experience would be like. I ultimately decided against doing it, aside from the occasional Editor KL note that I include in the edits, and things like the brief video I filmed of myself emotionally distraught after editing the Peekaboo episode. My main reason for not doing it is because I would end up spoiling viewers on my own reactions to upcoming scenes that viewers can't yet watch (as most YouTube viewers will not come to Patreon to view the watchalongs). In the same way that reactors don't like to be spoiled about future TV episodes, reaction viewers don't like to be spoiled on what a reactor thinks about something that's coming ahead. A secondary reason for not doing it that ties into what I just said is the fact that most viewers don't watch all of the review, so it would really bother me if my Editor KL reflection reviews spoiled the few people who actually do watch the entire review. I know there would be people who wouldn't care about that, but I care haha. That said, I have engaged in the comments a few times about certain moments that I feel a bit differently about now, and I'll likely continue doing that. And I do plan to create and upload two videos to include in the BB/BCS journey on YouTube, and that's an Editor KL video after El Camino reflecting on all of Breaking Bad and El Camino together before I start the Better Call Saul edits, and then another video reflecting on Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad together, once the BCS finale is edited and on the channel. I think/hope this will be a fine compromise. I am keeping some notes as I make my way through editing these.

kaiielle

Royal Tenenbaums *nods in approval*

RichieRich

I've been following your BBad edits and I'm kind of surprised you don't provide more reflective commentary, because I was really looking forward to that as a unique experience among reactors. I understand you have a lot on your plate already, especially with your coming vacation, and not every episode warrants a video reaction to your edit, but would you consider filming a post-edit review for any specific episodes that hit you harder than others? Like Jane's death was a major plot point, but the audience didn't know (in the moment) how much it would really affect Jesse in the long term (e.g. when Jesse spent days calling her phone just to hear her voicemail greeting, or when he thought about her while finally driving through Alaska) Having seen El Camino and everything, I'd really want to know how Jane's death affected you upon re-living that moment. Or like Better Call Saul, having seen the whole show and witnessing Jimmy's confession that it was him who enabled Walt's entire empire, how you look back at his humorous meddling in Walt's early plans to quit the business. Something to consider 😊

Dan

The Royal Tenenbaums! My absolute favorite Wes Anderson movie. Good shit. Very good shit. "Royal would have found the event to be most satisfactory."

Steve Mercier

LOL that's all good! I really love Andor, so very excited for S2.

kaiielle

I love Steve Jobs. Wouldn't shock me if it were bullshit, nor do I care. I enjoy it purely on the level of watching the actors doing their thing. Aaron Sorkin is sort of a hack and I'm not a fan of him as a person, but when his scripts are working, there's such a joy in just watching a great cast deliver the dialogue.

Tyler Foster

For me as a Star Wars fan, Andor was the only Star Wars content, other than episode 2, that I absolutely hated, and I have no desire to watch season 2

Arti

It sure does! I'm so excited!!

kaiielle

I watched the trailer for Season 2 of the Last of Us and I’m so hyped for it. Looks great.
