Such a unique episode seeing both sides of a scene at the same time Aida coming in clutch at a "price" ? that book seems to be able to take control of anyone/thing.... guess we will see. Dr Radcliff seemed truly scared when he opened it. All the acting top notch you can tell they have grown together and care for each other by now.

I was going to watch Serenity...now I have to choose...which one to watch first. Damnit.

I feel like the implication of that dimension they were getting dragged down to might be the same one were the zero matter in "Agent Carter" came from. The darkness overcoming them, them being pulled towards it and the feeling of getting cold.

If you remember Dr. Wilkes from Agent Carter season 2 also experienced being trapped between dimensions causing him to be like a ghost. The Dark dimension in where Zero matter comes from and it may be where Coulson was being sucked into.

AIDA needs a reboot right now. Or she will become the bad guy of this season. That book is evil. Maybe that is why people love this season. We get a new unique evil android? I'm down for that.

As a computer science nerd, having the Darkhold showing up as Binary is such a ridiculous notion. 😅 It'd be horribly inefficient. She'd have to turn soooooo many pages to get even rudimentary data out of the book. If not just "normal" text, it'd probably be showing her Base64 or Base85 encoded data. Though I guess most people wouldn't recognize that immediately as "computer information" and would just assume it was "random letters" or something. "Agents of Shield is awesome!" in Base85: 6"abHFE8RCAft#cBk;*k+DGm>@ Z:(Df'&/ "Agents of Shield is awesome!" in Binary: 01000001011001110110010101101110011101000111001100100000011011110110011000100000010100110110100001101001011001010110110001100100001000000110100101110011001000000110000101110111011001010111001101101111011011010110010100100001

This is a great episode - lots of info drops. It also contains one of my favourite VFX shots from the whole show - I love the revolving shot around the gateway from the dimension Fitz & Coulson are trapped in to the real world. The visuals of the gateway were deliberately designed to suggest the same type of portal the sling rings can create, but with a 'digital' twist - there's a 'squareness' to the portal that reflect it's creation from the quantum boxes used in the gateway. The visuals for the dimension that 'grabs' Coulson also imply that that was the mirror dimension, or a variation of it. We get yet more Ghost Rider lore, including that the Rider can forcibly take control of another, and he's escaped from another lower dimension previously. Robbie seems to have committed to quite an endeavour though if he's going to help settle *all* of Ghost Rider's scores. AIDA is proving to be useful - making her read the Darkhold makes a lot of sense, as she can presumably just be restored to a backup if something goes wrong. Her seeing binary code is also a nice touch. We are however left with the implication that reading the Darkhold has affected her in some way, given that she's creating a brain for some reason. I like how Daisy is just matter of fact "we don't know what happened" for the very simple reason that this is hardly the weirdest thing they've experienced so far. Mace you can understand thinking it's a tragedy, as he's new to all this. Finally, "Do we look that stupid on comms?" 🤣

Great episode that highlights the way that the writers can have multiple storylines going in a single episode whilst not diminishing from any of them. She doesn't get much screen time but this episode highlights Jemma's growth since the pilot and particularly in the season. Even though she has technically been kidnapped and placed in a tough spot she is not going to cower to anyone. Loved her line "Everyone out....now!" and they did.

Fun fact: The portal that AIDA created is actually the same one Dr. Strange can create with his Sling Ring. The first Dr. Strange movie also takes place right before this episode.

really love this episode!

AIDA actress (Mallory Jansen) is my favorite. An Aussie playing an American Android with a British creator. So cool haha This season is great and it’s not even midseason yet!
