Loki: Season 2 Episodes 4 - 6 ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

What the HECK was the last half of this show? This was definitely the more confusing of the two seasons, but I think it wrapped up extremely well and I really hope I'm understanding everything. As always, I trust y'all to fill any gaps or correct me if I've misunderstood something. I think this is one of the better character arcs in the whole franchise! [Direct link here.]

Have a fabulous weekend! 💚

Loki: Season 2 Episodes 4 - 6 ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

Finally got a chance to watch your reactions to the series. Loki as a character has grown so much. You understood how he was sort of holding himself back this whole season from being a god which is directly opposite his character in Avengers. Trying everything through science and technology but in the end he had to become something he has not wanted in a long time a god on the throne by using his powers. This whole second season is basically is the origin of the TVA and how his friends were chosen from the timeline. A beautiful loop with him recruiting them and them recruiting him in season 1 but also tragic because he didn't want to be alone but that in the end was the only way to give them a chance to fight this war but not against HWR anymore it seems because they are watching his variants.

I agree…season 2 was a little bit confusing. I like the Loki series overall but for me personally…WandaVision is still peak MCU television.

Was a joyful watch the 2nd time around, caught a few things I didn;t understand before especially after learning what Loki becomes at the end of the series. They had hint of Loki becoming the God Of Stories with one of them being when Loki and Sylvie were having a drink at the bar and she said something along the line of 'Maybe you have to write your own story' i might have that quote wrong but it was a nice hint at what was to become. Was a good end to a full story arc of Loki, he basically is the strongest character in the MCU right now I don't fully know his powerset but he isnt someone to be messed with. I would love to see what all he can do, he's basically a mutliversial time stone right now that can do about anything he thinks of.

Loki & Logan's arcs over the course of their respective series, are top notch. I believe Loki will be back, maybe after RDJ comes back for his film. Both Loki & Logan are truly Shakespearean tragedies.

This season feels much better paced than S1, and I think that's in a large part down to the finale. To me, S1's finale felt like somewhat of a let down as all the momentum of the season came to an abrupt stop, but this finale carries it through to a satisfactory conclusion. My presumption is that the tree visualisation for Loki's weaving of the timeline branches is meant to evoke Yggdrasill (the world's tree), that has been mentioned in the MCU before (though not since Phase 1 IIRC)

What a great reminder of just why this is my favourite season of any Marvel show. The way you simply *cannot* stop watching once episode 4 hits is just *chef's kiss*. Also, shout out to the unbelievable character arc they gave Loki between who he was in Avengers 1 (the would-be despot), through to Thor 2 (the angry sibling), and then the turn-around when he tried to do better in Thor 3 and the start of Infinity War. We got to see him go from wanting nothing but power and adulation... to realizing what he really wanted was friends and companionship... to then giving it all up and accepting a life of infinite solitude because that's what it took to give his friends a chance at happiness. Heckin' bravo. Also also, shout out to that moment I'm sure we all had when you realize the TVA logo isn't an hourglass design, but the loom -- sometimes depicted with a pair of eyes keeping watch over it. It's those kind of little details that just put this so far above so many other projects.

HWR did ask both Loki and Sylvie to take his place at the end of S1 although his goal was for them to protect just the sacred timeline so his variants don't appear. Hence, the Loom being a failsafe to delete everything except the sacred timeline if he could no longer do that with the TVA/pruning. And it ends with Loki ending up back there unwillingly (in the sense of inevitably being HWR's replacement/no other options) and willingly in selfless sacrifice to save his friends, choosing to not just protect the sacred timeline but hold all the branches together for eternity(.?) Good stuff.

Haven’t watched the reaction yet, but He Who Remains basically set up a system that always puts himself in control at the end of time and at the same time eliminating all his variants by mass deleting every branch of the timeline. He then in bad faith presents Loki with two choices—break the loom and all of existence dies or kill Silvie to stop the branching of the timelines. Loki realizes his glorious purpose is to destroy the loom, but maintain all the branches himself to sit at the end of time as the protector of the multiverse and weaving the branches himself. All while sacrificing himself for his friends and the rest of the multiverse. When he finally didn’t want a throne, the throne became his burden that only he could bear. Since Loki is safeguarding the branches, the TVA has changed their mission to help life grow and keeping track of Kang variants throughout the multiverse so they don’t cause any problems. At least that’s what I took from it 😂

What TIMING! Thank you for a wonderful end to a very long workweek. 🥹

It’s kinda funny seeing Victor impressed by the hot cocoa machine, but then again he’s from the 1800’s. Such a device probably wasn’t invented yet. A few things worth noting about episode 5: 1.) Casey’s real name is Frank Morris. In real life, Frank was one of three inmates who attempted to escape Alcatraz in 1962. However, it’s assumed that they drowned before they could make it far. 2.) Back in season 1, Sylvie showed B-15 the life she had through her enchanting. She said she looked happy, and now we know it’s true. Her real name is Dr. Verity Willis. Before any of this happened, she worked as a pediatrist at a children’s clinic her father founded. 3.) As for Mobius, there is one theory going around but it hasn’t been confirmed. He was a single father in 2022 which is during the Blip. Unless his wife passed away due to natural causes or something else, then it’s possible that she might have been among half of the population who vanished until the Avengers revived them. In the end, Loki chose his burden by embracing the two things he didn't want: loneliness and a throne. It's a sad happy ending because his friends and the countless dimensions survive but it’s not without sacrifice. The best and only way it happens is that Loki ascends to his new glorious purpose as the god of storytelling. I also wanna acknowledge Wunmi Mosaku. Her character B-15 started to grow on me late into season 1, and now I’ve gotten to like her even more. We get to see more of her vulnerability, empathy, and leadership. Mobius may be seeking a new calling which is a good thing, but the TVA is in great hands. With B-15 sticking around, it’ll become a happier and healthier work environment as shown in their new slogan/campaign “Let’s Grow Together.” And how can I forget about Casey? He had a relatively small role in the first season that I didn’t think he was gonna be more prominent the second time around. That change took me by surprise in the best way possible. His level of expertise may not be as high as that of O.B., but he follows along quite well and his input matters a great deal. The two of them and Victor clearly work well together to the point that they wrote and published the second edition of the TVA Official Handbook. Casey’s contributions, no matter how big or small, helped to save the TVA and with it quite possibly every dimension.
