Making some progress on my Venator Short Film!
Today, I worked on fixing the clouds on the planet below and added some laser bolts to the scene. I also did a quick film look grade in DaVinci.
This is still an Eevee render, and while I’m quite happy with the planet so far, the laser bolts definitely need more work.
As usual, my motivation jumps between projects, so I’ve also started working on something new—this time, a WW2 aircraft trailer.
Originally, I wanted to create separate short films: one about carrier-based WW2 planes and another featuring B-17 bombers dropping bombs. But instead of limiting myself to just one, I had the idea to make a fictional trailer that showcases a variety of WW2 aircraft scenes. That way, I can include all the different ideas I have in one project.
To kick things off, I started modeling the Douglas SBD Dauntless as the main carrier-based torpedo bomber. A few years ago, I already modeled a B-17, though it needs new textures and some updates.
It’s been really fun getting back into detailed modeling again! Since getting laid off from my junior modeling artist position, I hadn’t really felt the motivation to focus on a single detailed model for a long time. But this time, I’m not stressing about making it production-ready—I just want it to look good for what I need.
I’ll keep you updated!
If I finish this plane, it will of course be available for download for my Tier 2 Patrons.
