I ended up talking a LOT after this finale... 32 minutes, to be exact. And I left it all unedited so that it's one big string of real-time uninterrupted thoughts. [Direct link here.]
Admittedly, I am feeling mixed about this finale and a bit mixed about this season overall. I think Season 1 is still the better season (by a lot) for many different reasons. I also know that already knowing the story from the games is definitely impacting my experience of this. I'm not fully on board with changes they've made for this season, despite being on board with the changes they made in Season 1. It might take Season 3 (and Season 4, if they end up stretching it out to that) for me to have a different opinion on how Season 2 went, especially being able to watch it all in one go.

It’s funny how Ellie and Jesse mentioned Alberta. A good portion of both seasons was filmed there.

2025-05-27 14:57:49 +0000 UTCSo far I've only found two non-gamer reactors that understood what the ending scene was/meant. Most everyone else that didn't know the story seemed confused. I still think they should have just stopped with the gunshot but it's fine. As a mid point for a game, fantastic. As a season finale, could have been better. Overall love the season and there's even some things that I think the show did better. Game's a masterpiece and so far the show has not disappointed me. The finale is the only episode that should have left a scene out (Ellie somehow getting swept to a different side of the island) and of course should have ended differently, but overall I'm happy and thoroughly enjoyed it. Throughout the season, Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced had such amazing chemistry and Isabella was honestly a better Dina. Young Mazino made me care about Jesse whereas in the game I didn't care one way or the other about him. Anyway, looking forward to next season. Hopefully the next two years will go by quick and season 3 will be here before we know it.
