This Week: June 9 - 15

Hello everyone! Wishing a warm welcome to all of the new members who joined in the past week, both paid and free! Thank you so much for choosing to be here. 🥰

Summer is definitely here and it feels so good. Though I accidentally let my backyard get a little too overgrown and it was an absolute menace to get back to a reasonable state. Lesson learned. Never doing that again. I'm enjoying being outside as much as I can be and I know these months will fly by so I'm trying to keep a reasonable work-life balance, which is always easier said than done.

This week I'll be sharing reactions to Get Out and Hero, along with the next episodes of Chernobyl and Iron Fist. YouTube is going to get The Thing this week because I enjoyed it so much and wanted to get to the edit right away and share it as soon as I can. If you're new around here, I definitely do not release edits on YouTube in the same order that reactions are released on Patreon. YouTube edits have their own queue and plan based on so many factors. And some YouTube edits are set aside for sharing later in the year.

Patreon polls on Wednesdays are now officially a thing here and they'll always have an end date of Sunday evening. Last week's historical epics poll winner was Seven Samurai (1954) which I will get to next week or the week after. I'm excited to have weekly polls because I do feel like I had been neglecting them a bit in general.

I'm excited for the week ahead and I hope you are too! 🥰 Have a good one everyone!

Hero is a masterpiece, although I also wish the director's cut were more widely available. I understand there's a translation error in the more widely available US edit that changes a key message of the film. That said, I don't remember the exact details, and of course regardless of what they are, it will be better to look into it once you've watched it. For reference, if the information is helpful: theatrical is 99 minutes, director's cut is 10 minutes longer at 109.
