2025-06-20 14:06:27 +0000 UTCJust finished watching your reaction. Agree with everything you said about it being unsettling throughout the movie when things are unclear. I don't know why but the running scene, the going quiet when Chris goes upstairs and the eating cereal separate from the milk freaked me out the most. There is a alternative ending to this movie. I don't want to spoil it but you can watch it on YouTube. Which one do you think is the better ending?

2025-06-18 15:54:05 +0000 UTCCurrently sitting at my #4 movie of all time behind Whiplash, Interstellar and Alien. It's such a masterpiece for me. The writing is brilliant, the performances are fantastic (Kaluuya desperately needs to be in more stuff) and the vibe is uncomfortable in the best way possible. The way Peele plays with genres, stereotypes and cliches and gives them his own spin is always a joy to watch, in his other movies aswell. But Get Out is definitely my favorite. - Subtleties like the granddad being an olympic runner beaten by Jessie Owens ("he almost got over it" which probably started his obsession with "black being superior") and then training his running in the yard with his "better black body" - The dad saying deer are a plague and that we should get rid of them (and how his whole take on them sounds an awful lot like how racists would talk about people of color) and then being killed by the antlers. - The son being jealous of Chris' body bc he could be a beast and strong and all but then dying because Chris used his brain with a smart "chessmove" at the door - When we see the daughter for the first time she is staring at baked goods, choosing her favorites, like she also does with black men. And the way she eats her cereals (Fruit Loops seperately from the milk) not mixing white with color. - My favorite one though, and it's a very subtle one, is that Chris saves his life in the end by "picking cotton". Destroying the armchair to put it in his ear so he doesnt hear the cling clang sound. So good. There are many, many more, thats why this one is so fun on rewatches. What I like the most is that Peele treats his audience with respect. He doesn't see them as too dumb to make connections for themselves. Not everything is overexplained. Happy I won this round, thanks for letting me join! Looking forward to all the next winners choices!

2025-06-18 03:08:48 +0000 UTCI don't know if you have ever watched the key and Peele comedy show but you could see that Jordan loves the horror genre as much as he does comedy. This movie definitely has layers but I am not going to pretend to know them all. I recommend you look up the breakdowns of the movie on YouTube. If you have time to react to it even better because I would love your thoughts on them.

But after Miles pointed out a few things, I'm ready to dive in again and see if I feel differently now. And of course looking forward to your thoughts on it as well.
