Mission: Impossible III (2006) ✦ Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

In the same way that sometimes I'll say "Sorry I didn't comment or express much during this reaction." for certain movies, for this one I am saying "I feel like I couldn't shut up or not make faces during this reaction!" 😅

I hope you have a good time with this one! Looking forward to your comments. [Direct link here.]

I completely agree with your ranking of the three MI movies so far. Looking forward to more! A small thing no one else has mentioned yet that I quite enjoy about this film: During the rescue of agent Lindsey Farris at the start of the movie, when she asks Ethan to toss her a pistol; The plan for filming that was to have that be a CGI shot. They asked to film a plate where Tom Cruise just tosses the gun to Keri Russel, she pretends to catch it and shoot, and then they have that as reference for when they do the CGI shot. They nail it on the first take! She actually catches it perfectly with the finger on the trigger and everything, and follows through acting and completing the shot. Cut, print, saves them tens of thousands of dollars in post-production. Keri has gone on record saying she has terrible hand-eye coordination and they could've done that shot a thousand more times and she would've fumbled every time. Keri Russel and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (the Irish IMF team member) headline in a movie together called "August Rush" (2007), with Robin Williams in a supporting role, that I have really fond memories of. One to add to your long list of suggestions! 😅

Onno Smits

Ahh yeah that's a fair one. But yes overall awesome movie! Had so much fun.

Post-reaction, I anticipated you would love this one, it basically reset the series and gave us a new direction and holy shit did they launch us right into it! My only criticism is in the final fight with Davian - when he picks up the gun, he stands at the ready looking down at the gun waiting on Tom. Once you notice it you can tell it's Philip getting ready for the tackle. Davien would have and should have had that gun cocked and been on his way to Julia not just standing there bracing for impact you know? Small criticism in an otherwise perfect film.
